In the bed alcove design, a reveal detail at the wall corner of the alcove would have restored the symmetry of the piece - narrow, broad, bed, broad, narrow.

Absolutely love this article Eric. Thank you. When designing our house I really didn’t pay much attention to the front door. Thank goodness I came across a beautiful example of a door that matched the architectural details. I woke up. It was an expensive but important decision and the right one. Our home would not command the same presence without the front door and it’s side transom. Doors are just as important as cabinets, wall finishes, and all other finishes.

Great article Eric, I love the fact that you are stressing the importance of doors in the architectural element, especially the main entry. At www.doorsbyimm.com we try to go a step further in creating designs that compliment the customers personality.
