Moroso Construction

Our project was the conversion of a 60-year-old SOMA warehouse to a single family residence. Our architect made extensive use of curves and angles in the design to convert the blocky, cubical space into a flowing, fluid experience. After investigating a number of general contractors, we selected Moroso Construction. Their integrated approach to realizing our complex design was instrumental in achieving the ‘warm industrial’ feel we were looking for. Moroso was head and shoulders above the competition in demonstrating that they could deliver this complex design. Renovation at this scale is always a complicated process. There are many unknowns in an older structure, and Moroso had to adapt to many challenges in building our dream home. They handled this professionally, with a close eye on managing cost. Ron and his team were with us throughout the construction process, and added great value and comfort as the various twists and turns of zoning, permitting, demolition, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors played out. We ended up with exactly what we wanted - a warm, inviting, and comfortable home into which we are proud to welcome our many guests.

We recently completed several projects with Moroso in Atherton, San Francisco and Marin, and will look forward to the next one. The ran the projects very professionally and maintained clear communication relative to schedule and budget. During the process they were attentive to the design intent and were an engaged participant in resolving design and construction details throughout.

If we made design changes, in which there were a few, they responded clearly about the implications the changes had on the budget and schedule. When we had other questions for them, they were always insightful and engaged and responded right away. If you work with them, rest assured they can build anything, though preferably with a drawing :) They are extremely professional and we highly recommend them.

Moroso Construction and Gast Architects recently completed the renovation of an historic home near UCSF. Behind the restored historic façade, basically a new home was created: the house raised about 2’ and entirely new foundations placed below it, a three story addition appended to the rear, all new windows and doors installed, upgraded systems added throughout, and entirely new finishes …It was a difficult project with a spectacular result – Moroso’s workmanship was of the highest level, their attitude throughout positive and collaborative, and their project management and site personnel a pleasure to work with and professional. We definitely look forward to our next project with Moroso.

Moroso is fantastic to work with, and really knows how to work collaboratively with both architects and clients. From the owners down through the project management, field supervisors and construction staff they were responsive, creative, and focused on quality.
