An inset space in the hallway turned into a charging station/ mud room for 3 teens to store their stuff and leave their electronics charging over night.

A central island has 4 stools to sit for homework, art or snacktime, and houses drawers for each of the kids to drop their keys, with a USB charger for phones and iPads.

In this laundry room we reconfigured the area by removing walls, making the bathroom smaller and installing a mud room with cubbie storage and a dog shower area. The cabinets installed are Medallion Gold series Stockton flat panel, cherry wood in Peppercorn. 3” Manor pulls and 1” square knobs in Satin Nickel. On the countertop Silestone Quartz in Alpine White. The tile in the dog shower is Daltile Season Woods Collection in Autumn Woods Color. The floor is VTC Island Stone.

The wainscoting is made from reclaimed white barn board. For this special job, no wood was joined, every edge was eased to look worn with a wavering block plane. Knots, bullet holes, gouges, old paint, saw marks and every other imperfection were embraced and showcased for the story they represented. Nothing looks new. The ceiling is treated with tongue and grooved, beveled cedar planks. There is nothing more incongruous than when a room is rustic but the sheetrock walls are left smooth - especially when the wall are left white. We updated this laundry room by installing Medallion Silverline Jackson Flat Panel cabinets in white icing color. The countertops are a custom Natural Black Walnut wood top with a Mockett charging station and a Porter single basin farmhouse sink and Moen Arbor high arc faucet. The backsplash is Ice White Wow Subway Tile. The floor is Durango Tumbled tile.

This customer had a very small space near their front door that was underutilized. We designed this small mudroom unit to fill this nook with shoe storage, a small bench, and hooks for coats.

This tired ranch was in dire need of an update. Formerly the kitchen was separate from the living room and the dining area was severely undersized. SLR Architecture opened up the kitchen to the great room and defined the living and dining areas so that each space stands on it's own. With help from interior designer Justine Sterling the finishes, furniture, ad accessories were carefully considered so that the whole room works as an overall composition. A compact mud room was carved out of the back hall from a formally over sized laundry room so the family had a convenient drop zone, also the front entry was upgraded and a new rear deck was added for easier exterior access. This custom designed mudroom, laundry room has a space for everything. The built in cabinets feature lockers for each child, a work space, a space for a bonus refrigerator, and a built in charging station so electronics can be charging out of site. The tile floor, granite counters, and thoughtful design make this space beautiful and functional.
