Total renovation for a small backyard garden in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. The scope included a bluestone patio, horizontal cedar fence with built in planters and bench with storage. Overhead cafe string lights and a pendant fixture allow this family to enjoy their garden after dark. Low maintenance flowering perennials and grasses as well as herbs and vegetables fill the planted areas.

A short 42“ high pony wall was erected in the front yard with a gate for visitors and an electric gate for their cars. The front gate was inset into a niche which allowed for some stylish urns planted with dwarf Kumquat trees.

This San Rafael front landscape has been dramatically updated with a welcoming concrete pathway entrance, and complimented by a variety of architectural plants, hardy succulents, such as Yucca 'Bright Star', Blue chalk sticks, and others and a majestic, fruitless olive tree. The dramatic transformation is enhanced by a raised corten steel planter at the pathway entrance with gravel and succulents. Two horizontal ipe wood structures provide contemporary accents. New raised concrete planters alongside the new concrete driveway define the property and showcase more colorful succulents. A beautiful gray house paint color and ipe accents complete the remodel. The client wanted a unique outdoor entertaining area and she loved Heath tile. We bought a pizza oven and then stucco and tiled it to match. The screen is a ParaSoleil panel with a verdigris finish and we framed it with IPE.
