PALO ALTO ACCESSIBLE BATHROOM Designed for accessibility, the hall bathroom has a curbless shower, floating cast concrete countertop and a wide door. The same stone tile is used in the shower and above the sink, but grout colors were changed for accent. Single handle lavatory faucet. Not seen in this photo is the tiled seat in the shower (opposite the shower bar) and the toilet across from the vanity. The grab bars, both in the shower and next to the toilet, also serve as towel bars. Erlenmeyer mini pendants from Hubbarton Forge flank a mirror set in flush with the stone tile. Elizabeth Strianese Interiors and Meredith Heuer photography. We opted for a classic inspired bathroom with literally "splashes" of fun for these little girls. The triple laundry sink serves the 3 children nicely with it's deep basin and built in soap holders. Simplicity was key when selecting a class marble hex floor tile and white subway tile for the bulk of the room - but then we had a little fun with the colorful glass mosaic tile in the tub niche. Handblown locally made light fixtures from Dan Spitzer over the sink keep my signature of "local and handmade" alive.

Although the home is in its 100th year, the owners wanted to create an updated urban style reflective of their downtown location. The new styling, while sleek and contemporary, kept a traditional feel with a paneled door styling, crystal chandeliers and an updated glass version of subway tile. We were also able to create an open kitchen with a 3’8 ½” x 7’ 5 ½” island centered on a gourmet Wolf cooking area.
