Rooftopia continues to enjoy working with this client on multiple projects, starting with this lovely first collaboration. The clients goals were to use mostly black finishes with a pink statement dining chair! We developed the space with some existing project challenges so our first tasks involved modifications to the existing pergola and flooring tiles. We integrated a retractable fabric shade canopy and several up/down light fixtures into the new space. We designed, built and installed privacy screens made of faux greenery to block out unsightly views toward the alley. We added cedar screens for privacy and to act as a backdrop for an outdoor TV. We also customized and installed a lovely outdoor cabinet system with drawers and a built-in outdoor refrigerator. Their coffee table doubles as an ice bin to top off the overall party vibe!

Patio kitchen - contemporary concrete paver patio kitchen idea in San Francisco with no cover

This deck was designed with cooking and entertaining in mind. The dual burner cooktop, 36" wide grill and storage provide plenty of cooking and staging space. The dining table niche, mobile island with seating and additional space allows enough table/chair space for seating 30+ people. By separating the beverage station from the cooking area, the deck encourages guests to circulate through the space (and reduced installation costs by tapping into the house main kitchen sink plumbing located on the other side of the exterior wall).
The mobile island, with it's cantilevered countertop is perfectly stable despite the 225 pound countertop slab. This was achieved with a ballast inside the box combined with the industrial casters that allow the wheels to be pumped up off the deck, providing solid foot for the island.

Completing this outdoor oasis was the design and construction of an outdoor kitchen. Located adjacent to the covered patio and indoor kitchen, this outdoor living area was upgraded from a partially covered patio to a fully functional outdoor kitchen with a full bank of slate-colored outdoor powdered stainless steel cabinetry by Danver.
Anchoring the space is a stunning leather textured Fantasy Brown granite countertop, doubling as a dramatic backsplash behind the new grilling station (featuring a 36” Alfresco grill and 48” Proline hood). To complete this luxurious outdoor kitchen, we installed a Kohler Strive undermount stainless steel sink with a Kohler Simplice faucet, ice bin, U-Line outdoor under cabinet refrigerator, and a water heater.
