It’s Technical challenges the traditional window display by creating active sculptures that employ an engaging temporal component to create memorable installations. The brief required that our client’s luxurious outerwear be incorporated in an installation that detailed and glamorized their highly technical nature of their garments while honoring their high-fashion roots. STACKLAB designed 25 site-specific fabric tension-sculptures that depicted the best-in-class waterproofing of our client’s down-filled jackets by employing the same materials in a form that conspicuously held water. While the brief specified an active component, electricity and complex mechanics were ruled out by site constraints. Instead, STACKLAB designed a custom 3D printed vessel that was suspended above the fabric and dripped slowly throughout the day. These drops ran along the fabric sculpture and joined the water held by the sculpture, creating a slow, contemplative temporal aspect to the display. In order to accommodate a tight timeline and modest budget, STACKLAB employed our client’s in-house prototyping staff and existing overseas production facilities. In doing so, these sculptures were created with, and showcased exactly the same techniques, materials, aesthetics and integrity as our client’s products.
