Dramatic windows cast light to the grand staircase which sports a modern twist to a decades old linoleum product called Lincrusta. The Lincrusta adorned walls have a metallic, beige and black color scheme that adds a wow factor to a space that might otherwise be overlooked. The ceiling is troweled with a silver metallic product called Lusterstone for a sizzle shimmer.

A slight transforming of the adjacent powder room was done at the same time. We adapted a vintage dresser into a vanity and created a floor mat around the toilet with marble mosaic. The addition of the frosted door, the stained crown and newly refinished Lincrusta panels really finished off the space perfectly.

Referencing the wife and 3 daughters for which the house was named, four distinct but cohesive design criteria were considered for the 2016 renovation of the circa 1890, three story masonry rowhouse:
1. To keep the significant original elements – such as
the grand stair and Lincrusta wainscoting.
2. To repurpose original elements such as the former
kitchen pocket doors fitted to their new location on
the second floor with custom track.
3. To improve original elements - such as the new "sky
deck" with its bright green steel frame, a new
kitchen and modern baths.
4. To insert unifying elements such as the 3 wall
benches, wall openings and sculptural ceilings.

A closet added to the guest bedroom in the 40's had choked the entry to the house. It was removed to provide a wider, more open feel. This also allowed us to swap out the impossibly narrow garage door with a full sized fire door, and change the fussy moldings with more modern casings.
