Life is brought back to the historic C&O Canal. In 2010, a blizzard devastated the 60-year-old Mulberry trees lining the historic Tow Path of the C&O Canal in Georgetown. D. A. Dunlevy was brought in to repair the damage and restore the beauty of this popular site. The challenge of finding a native species of tree that was also mature enough to have considerable height was met through a collaboration with the property owner and the National Park Service. Locally-sourced river birch, standing 30-40 feet tall, were brought in and planted, providing a fast return to the stately stretch of trail. A custom water feature and specialty plantings were also installed in the courtyard to add a peaceful place for taking in the views.

Request Free Quote Take the bluestone walkway, into the formal courtyard entryway, which is lined in brick knee walls & boxwood hedges, and then framed with lilac trees. As we head into the backyard, you’ll see that this lake house estate resides along Lake Michigan, so we were mindful of the water backdrop, when designing the patio and landscape. The owners sure do enjoy their spectacular view of the lake from their bluestone terrace, accompanied by their brick fireplace, which reflects the brick of the home.
