Inspiration for a timeless deck remodel in New York

APLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. Galvanized troughs used for vegetables in the side yard. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. The famiy desk area was part of the previous playroom and the tv now hangs on a wall of the former walk-in pantry. When removing walls relaocating the hvac to ensure proper circulation becomes the biggest challenge and for this was project that was no exception.

Cool & Contemporary is the vibe our clients were seeking out. Phase 1 complete for this El Paso Westside project. Consistent with the homes architecture and lifestyle creates a space to handle all occasions. Early morning coffee on the patio or around the firepit, smores, drinks, relaxing, reading & maybe a little dancing. Cedar planks set on raw steel post create a cozy atmosphere. Sitting or laying down on cushions and pillows atop the smooth buff leuders limestone bench with your feet popped up on the custom gas firepit. Raw steel veneer, limestone cap and stainless steel fire fixtures complete the sleek contemporary feels. Concrete steps & path lights beam up and accentuates the focal setting. To prep for phase 2, ground cover pathways and areas are ready for the new outdoor movie projector, more privacy, picnic area, permanent seating, landscape and lighting to come.

Deck - contemporary deck idea in DC Metro

A 1940's bungalow was renovated and transformed for a small family. This is a small space - 800 sqft (2 bed, 2 bath) full of charm and character. Custom and vintage furnishings, art, and accessories give the space character and a layered and lived-in vibe. This is a small space so there are several clever storage solutions throughout. Vinyl wood flooring layered with wool and natural fiber rugs. Wall sconces and industrial pendants add to the farmhouse aesthetic. A simple and modern space for a fairly minimalist family. The clients love to entertain large parties (50-200 ppl). Existing architecture did not allow for proper circulation to do so. We changed multiple access points to the space. We added a door from the garage breezeway, closed off access to the laundry, removed a door to the foyer and widened the entryway.

By extending the kitchen t the side, Clawson Architects was able to create the proper circulation for a kitchen with island seating. New white cabinets with contrasting island creates a gracious entertaining kitchen with room for helpers and observers.

Upper soffit holds cooling equipment covered by a laser cut grill for proper air circulation and a place to house hi hats. Perfect wine enjoyment ambiance created for the dining room area.

The first step was installing continuous CertainTeed WinterGuard® ice and water shield across the roof decking followed by Benjamin Obdyke Cedar Breather matt to assure proper air circulation beneath the shingles. All valleys were flashed with 20 oz red copper.
