Previously, the living room was dominated by heavy florals and darker colors. Our painters went to work with white paint on the windows, crown molding and fireplace. The building is organized such that it integrates campus circulation routes into the building while providing a new, contemporary front door to the University of Houston campus. JURY COMMENTS: This project is well-conceived in all aspects of its design and construction. It is very contextual while working with the sun challenges of Texas. Its spaces and interior are elegant, light, and open.

Home office - traditional home office idea in Los Angeles

An academic couple, a renown materials scientist and a respected artist, wanted an outdoor space for entertainment and contemplation in their elegantly designed garden. We determined during the initial meeting that the design goal was “…to give them a reason to use the garden.” After several iterations, we developed the new space as an extension of the existing deck, creating a framed, optimal view of the garden and landscape that was previously de-emphasized. The pavilion can serve both as a stand-alone insect-protected space for a small group, or a covered deck expansion for larger gatherings. The repetition of patterns is a theme throughout the space. The corrugated white metal exterior is conceived as a textural complement to the pale horizontal face brick of the adjacent ranch house. The decking planks become the floor of the pavilion. Wall and ceiling panels align with lights and fixtures. Temporal patterns result from rainwater channelled across the correlated roof surface, as well as scalloped shadows cast onto the deck and wall surfaces. The “light chimney” to the North reflects the house fireplace chimney to the South, and draws south light into the pavilion serving area. All of the pavilion's openings are carefully arranged to frame the existing plant compositions. Since completion, the clients have entertained extensively in the pavilion. It has also become a favorite place for morning coffee, writing, and contemplation, thus fulfilling the initial goal of the project.

Nestled in the front corner of the home, overlooking the front drive and the rose garden, this study library is a cozy academic retreat perfectly suited for the family’s love of books and learning. Originally the dining room, the space was artfully transformed into a study, with new cabinetry crafted to complement the home’s original mahogany millwork for a unifying, historical touch. Custom library built-ins wrap around the room, beautifully detailed with reeded edges and crown molding. A new mahogany window reinforces the period style, while a window seat with a plush velvet cushion provides the perfect nook to curl up with a favorite book, a blanket, and a cup of tea or coffee. The shelf above the window was designed to perfectly accommodate and showcase the family’s set of Harvard Classics. The room is color-drenched in a rich forest green, creating a moody, enveloping atmosphere, while leather club chairs and a family heirloom desk furnish the space with elegance and character. The original servery door, connecting the former dining room to the home’s office, was retained, maintaining a link to the home’s history and layout. This interior design project focuses on creating a multifunctional space that balances study, relaxation, and play for our young client. Inspired by her love of blue, we incorporated calming hues throughout the room to promote a serene atmosphere. We prioritized natural light, allowing the beauty of her suburban surroundings to enhance the space. Functional furniture enables smooth transitions between studying and relaxing, while cozy nooks invite comfort and creativity. Personal touches, such as custom artwork featuring her favorite wildlife and decor reflecting her personality, make this space unique. We have transformed her room into a wellness-centered chic retreat that nurtures her academic pursuits and personal joy.

The problem was not in a lack of competency, but in ethics. She discovered that it was an order for a student from her former place of work, Tech University. She says that she felt weird about completing this work and refused to write it. “I became angry when I realized that I am going to serve a kid who is partying in Florida, while being a former faculty member of the university he is attending.” Currently, Jenifer is working as a Russian translator. However, she is not abandoning academic writing industry even though she feels a little awkward about helping students to cheat. It is not that bad that unemployable professors have an opportunity to earn for living being ghostwriters even though it is not very ethical. Ironically, a place of work like academic writing company that makes out-of-job educators feel that they are performing a crime assisting students in cheating seems to be the only place in the job market that values their experience in the sphere of education.
