Sometimes we like it traditional! This family that is very active in their community, needed a kitchen that will endure a lot of traffic, and have ample storage for oversized cookware and serving pieces, to be able to accommodate the weekly Shabbos Kiddish that they host. Can you spot the hiding place for the huge cholont pot?

When Matt first considered his kitchen remodel, the layout had a functional yet outdated look. The goal was to create an inviting space with updated fixtures, improved lighting, and enhanced storage.
One of the most significant changes was adding a new window over the sink, bringing in ample natural light.
The old cabinets were replaced with new timeless Waypoint cabinets, featuring a two-tone combination of Linen for the upper cabinets and Maple Rye for the base cabinets.
A new island was built, featuring cabinetry on one side and a beadboard around the back and sides of the island for a decorative touch. To further enhance functionality, hidden outlets were installed and three West Elm Henry Pendant Lights now hang over the island, creating a striking visual feature.
The countertops were upgraded to Della Terra Quartz in Calacatta Divine. This material extends around the new kitchen window and serves as a sleek backsplash beneath the cabinets.
A Blanco Diamond Single Basin Undermount Sink in white was installed, paired with a touch-activated Delta Stryke Faucet in Lumicoat Arctic Stainless, blending style with practicality and easy function for day to day use.

A clean, transitional home design. This home focuses on ample and open living spaces for the family, as well as impressive areas for hosting family and friends. With our client being a baker, having a beautiful new kitchen that is also functional was very important. The original kitchen cabinets and the adjoining wall to the dining room were removed, creating a large, open space filled with natural light. We installed Wellborn white shaker-style cabinets, light natural Quartzite countertops, and Monogram stainless steel appliances to transform the kitchen into a bright, inviting area for the whole family to enjoy. To ensure the space stays well-lit at all times, we incorporated multiple ceiling lights, under-cabinet lighting, motion-activated toe-kick lighting, and a custom island fixture, providing ample brightness day or night. The clients desired enough countertop space to accommodate several cookie sheets at one time, as well as seating for five. The oversized island met both needs, with a thoughtfully designed layout that maximized the available space. The new slate flooring seamlessly blended the kitchen with the existing white oak floors, while fresh paint colors completed the cohesive and inviting palette.

These young, active homeowners had three primary goals: 1) open the kitchen and better integrate it into the flow of the home, 2) incorporate simple and minimal cabinetry to provide ample storage without filling every inch of space, and 3) accommodate a wide and practical range of luxury appliances.
Mission accomplished!

In the heart of Harpenden, a family sought to create a kitchen that was more than a cooking space; they wanted a multifunctional area tailored to their busy lifestyle. The goal was to combine functionality with a welcoming atmosphere for family and work-related activities.
For this project, the chosen range was Nobilia 945 Easytouch combined with 966 Lacquered Laminate in a stunning Fjord Blue Ultra Matt finish.
The worktops, supplied by Algarve Granite, were 12mm CRL Nero Natural CER104N ceramic with a Grey mirror finish, adding a sleek and contemporary edge to the kitchen. The inclusion of Siemens, Bora, Blanco, and Quooker appliances ensured the kitchen was equipped with the latest in kitchen technology, blending functionality and style seamlessly.
The kitchen was designed with dedicated areas to cater to their lifestyle - a walk-in larder and large utility area were essential elements, providing ample storage and workspace.
The final result is a Fjord Blue Kitchen that encapsulates the essence of modern living. The combination of Nobilia’s sleek design with practical features like the walk-in larder and high-quality appliances has created a space that meets the family’s needs and enhances their daily life.

This traditional home underwent a tasteful renovation that created a beautiful dwelling for this family. After the remodel was completed, the owners turned their attention to the natural surroundings. The existing fieldstone walls were softened with new plantings that include seasonal bulb displays. Tired foundation shrubs were removed and replaced. Perennials with diverse seasonal interest line the front of the house. In the back of the house, a contemporary swimming pool cools the active family off. Context
After retiring from their careers in New Jersey, an active professional couple decided to move to Vermont to be closer to their family. They wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to sensibly plan for the future by building a sunlit home in which they could comfortably age in place with predictable, low energy costs through the harsh Vermont winter. A spacious, open lot near a historic river village provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s favorite hobbies: gardening, woodworking, and yoga. The couple’s son, owner of Shelterwood Construction, would have the chance to showcase his meticulous craftsmanship in a home lovingly built for his parents.
Response
The home was built using very local natural materials that blend into the surrounding landscape. Cor-ten steel weathered clapboards transition from the earth to the wood clapboards above and the entire exterior has no finish, allowing the house to change and weather with the seasons. Many of the interior finishes, including the decorative stair wall, were made from locally-milled white pine that was harvested from the site.
This certified Passive House is designed to be lived in for a lifetime with wheelchair accessibility, wide doorways, accessible fixtures, and everything the couple needs located on the main level. Framed by large south-facing windows, the light-filled main living area includes a lofted ceiling transected with a glass bridge that connects the guest bedrooms above and looks out onto the garden and fruit trees below.
The attached barn, which creates a courtyard for gardens, houses a yoga studio and woodworking shop. With an ample array of solar panels and airtight construction to keep the heat in, the house is predicted to be net zero with no energy bills even in the coldest of Vermont winters. A Tesla Powerwall stores backup electricity for this all-electric home.
