A collaboration between Sean Woolsey Studio and Hati Home, the Bali Afternoon Lounge Chair is a chair we are so excited to announce.
Crafted out of A-grade teak in Indonesia, the Bali Afternoon Lounge Chair is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. We work with master craftsmen in the town of Solo Java, and we are proud to have them making this chair. The crafting community here is the farm to table equivalent in the niche of teak furniture making. The teak trees grow in their backyard and they have kilns on-site to dry the lumber (heated efficiently by their wood scraps, of course). They have small shops in town that do individual specific tasks to complete each chair. It is a tight-knit local community fully committed to this work. The production process involves multiple different small shops to produce our chairs. The weaving is an art in and of itself out of synthetic paper cord (weatherproof) and takes hours of meticulous focus.
Available in either a black or natural paper cord, hand-wrapped on an A-grade teak frame.

Sentinel stretches across the brow of a winding grade break high above the Napa Valley. This seasonal residence was conceived as an agrarian compound which draws inspiration from its agricultural roots and takes a leap forward in innovative construction and a modern expression of timber and steel craft.
A gently curving gravel drive circuits the lower end of the vineyard, announcing the arrival on the property. The drive slowly straightens to align with the vineyard rows to the North and the long axis of the residential structures to the South. Three gable-end barn forms follow the ordered lines of the vineyard to one side, and on the other, hug the rock-lined edge of the forest. Flanked by main residence and guest residence on either side, the taller, middle barn structure steps back from the forest to form a broad terrace. An elegant trellised colonnade threads through the three buildings, providing shade and dappled light to the terrace – a private place for food and wine to be enjoyed overlooking the magnificent valley below.

Often guests, including family, choose to arrive at the home through this side, accessible from the driveway. The crunch of gravel as they enter the space announces their arrival, and they're instantly welcomed with smiles and delicious smells. (This location is also convenient when the homeowners arrive with groceries ready for the grill and bar.)
The flagstone closest to the kitchen area makes for easy clean-up, while the gravel and decomposed granite areas allow water to sink into the garden, fueling foliage health. The stamped concrete under the barstools elevates the look of the bar area, which connects to the broader outdoor living space.
