White and neutral colours will probably never go out of style in homes, but colour is slowly being introduced back into our homes. By adding colour through tiles, grout, stone and even wallpaper we can create these amazing areas that capture individuality and style. Wallpaper produces an elegant way to completely change the look of a space and allows you to put your own personal touch on the walls. Whether you’re on a budget or you just want to add more attention to your high-end interiors you can play around with your own creativity in so many different ways through wallpaper. Normally we are used to having spaces like our living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms wallpapered, but we forget that our bathrooms and powder rooms can also be an uplifting and creative area within your homes. It’s important to realise that by choosing the correct wallpaper for a space can make a room appear bigger, brighter and warmer than it is. If your bathroom has low ceilings try to pick patterns with cool colour backgrounds like greens and blues. For colder environments you want colours that make the room feel warmer, these colours are oranges, yellows and reds. In regards to the type of wallpaper suitable for bathrooms usually vinyl wallpaper is the best option. This material is resistant to water and water vapour making it appropriate for kitchens and bathrooms. Wallpaper can make so much difference in a room, from creative patterns, smooth surfaces and a huge variety of colour you are sure to find a wallpaper that suits your individual flair and character.

As you can see, our custom wine cellar Dallas builders included a wine tasting table in this wine room, for convenience. Just like the wine racks, the table was made from All Heart Redwood. As such, it blends in wonderfully. Case storage was also included, beneath the Redwood tabletop. Inspiration for a transitional kitchen remodel in Philadelphia

The Clients contacted Cecil Baker + Partners to reconfigure and remodel the top floor of a prominent Philadelphia high-rise into an urban pied-a-terre. The forty-five story apartment building, overlooking Washington Square Park and its surrounding neighborhoods, provided a modern shell for this truly contemporary renovation. Originally configured as three penthouse units, the 8,700 sf interior, as well as 2,500 square feet of terrace space, was to become a single residence with sweeping views of the city in all directions. The Client’s mission was to create a city home for collecting and displaying contemporary glass crafts. Their stated desire was to cast an urban home that was, in itself, a gallery. While they enjoy a very vital family life, this home was targeted to their urban activities - entertainment being a central element. The living areas are designed to be open and to flow into each other, with pockets of secondary functions. At large social events, guests feel free to access all areas of the penthouse, including the master bedroom suite. A main gallery was created in order to house unique, travelling art shows. Stemming from their desire to entertain, the penthouse was built around the need for elaborate food preparation. Cooking would be visible from several entertainment areas with a “show” kitchen, provided for their renowned chef. Secondary preparation and cleaning facilities were tucked away. The architects crafted a distinctive residence that is framed around the gallery experience, while also incorporating softer residential moments. Cecil Baker + Partners embraced every element of the new penthouse design beyond those normally associated with an architect’s sphere, from all material selections, furniture selections, furniture design, and art placement. Getting from the driveway to the backyard can be a designers after thought or inconvenience, but Gappsi takes all the little details to create a one of a kind design from start to finish including walkways and paths. The Team at Gappsi melded together the walkway to the back patio to the driveway at this estate in Glen Cove, New York 11542. Using the existing height of the Belgium block border of the driveway we had a set height on which to begin our walkway. Providing a four inch lift the grey Belgium block matched with a two inch thick grey natural limestone step tread gave us the perfect six inches we needed for a step. Using our french pattern Melfi limestone as the field brings the look of a Traditional home to the foreground. Installed is an estate fence that is flanked by two six foot columns with lights to feature the gate. Gappsi landscape designers came in and kept with the traditional theme and used low lying boxwood's and creeping junipers to highlight and accentuate the surrounding area of the walkway. A small flowering tree adds height and a pond less water feature can be seen off to the right side for color and ambiance. Notice the meticulous planting of the sky rocket arborvitaes along the fence line to mask the appearance of an actual fence. These small thoughtful and executed details brings what would normally be a basic walkway to get from point A to B into an opulent path that envelopes warmth, beauty, and soul.
