We completely renovated a simple low-lying house for a university family by opening the back side with large windows and a wrap-around patio. The kitchen counter extends to the exterior, enhancing the sense of openness to the outside. Large overhanging soffits and horizontal cedar siding keep the house from overpowering the view and help it settle into the landscape. The most notable design component is the exceptional use of reclaimed wood throughout nearly every application. Sourced from not only one, but two different Indiana barns, this hand hewn and rough sawn wood is used in a variety of applications including custom cabinetry with a white glaze finish, dark stained window casing, butcher block island countertop and handsome woodwork on the fireplace mantel, range hood, and ceiling. Underfoot, Oak wood flooring is salvaged from a tobacco barn, giving it its unique tone and rich shine that comes only from the unique process of drying and curing tobacco. Summer is here! It’s time to make vacation plans for some fun in the sun by the pool! Their new 33,000 square feet outdoor pool area is spectacular… And we’d like to think that’s at least partially due to the recent addition of No Fault Pool Deck Surface. With intense blue coloring accented by inlaid, striped beach balls that appear to be bouncing around on the surface, this project is a treat for the eyes!
