Inspiration for an eclectic medium tone wood floor home office remodel in New York with multicolored walls

Our clients decided to take their childhood home down to the studs and rebuild into a contemporary three-story home filled with natural light. We were struck by the architecture of the home and eagerly agreed to provide interior design services for their kitchen, three bathrooms, and general finishes throughout. The home is bright and modern with a very controlled color palette, clean lines, warm wood tones, and variegated tiles.

In this kitchen remodel, the door to the pantry/laundry room was relocated (and replaced with a modern black metal door) to give the owner more countertop space, but the kitchen is otherwise using the same basic kitchen layout. Everything in this kitchen is new, including all cabinets, appliances, lighting, etc. The homeowner wanted light, wide-plank wood floors for a Scandinavian feel, so they opted for Westover Oak throughout the home and removed the old laminate flooring.

This kitchen blends two different finishes, materials, and colors together beautifully! The sheer contrast between both stones really highlights the island. A paver patio (Anchor Afton, walnut color) to gives the homeowners the entertainment and dining space they wanted. The blended colors of the pavers pull together the colors of the roof shingles (brown) and the New York Bluestone (blue/gray). The smaller pattern of the pavers defines the space, inviting guests to sit. Plus, the plant bed between the wall and the patio gave the homeowners a space to plant seasonal color and an edible garden.
