Inspiration for a contemporary home design remodel in Ottawa

Initially, we were tasked with improving the façade of this grand old Colonial Revival home. We researched the period and local details so that new work would be appropriate and seamless. The project included new front stairs and trellis, a reconfigured front entry to bring it back to its original state, rebuilding of the driveway, and new landscaping. We later did a full interior remodel to bring back the original beauty of the home and expand into the attic. This home remodel was an incredible transformation that turned a traditional Boulder home into an open concept, refined space perfect for hosting. The Melton design team aimed at keeping the space fresh, which included industrial design elements to keep the space feeling modern. Our favorite aspect of this home transformation is the openness from room to room. The open concept allows plenty of opportunities for this lively family to host often and comfortably.

This is a view from the bedroom space through the sitting area to the staircase. Prior to finishing the space, we had to make it livable. We jacked up the floor to level then installed steel and structural members to make floor level using micro-laminated wood (LVL). We also re-engineered the roof.
