GA was hired to renovate this outdated apartment. We reorganized the kitchen into a more efficient layout and opened up the space as much as possible to the living room. We put in new dark wood flooring through out, and contrasted that with light gray walls. New recessed lighting throughout helps to define the different spaces. © Devon Banks

Kitchen - eclectic kitchen idea in Austin

Furthering her plan to enhance the room's architecture, Suzanne turned one corner of the kitchen into a cheery dining area with an L-shaped built-in bench that mimics the cabinetry. To keep the dining nook cozy (not restaurant-like) she surrounded the metal bistro table with slipcovered armchairs and hung a sparkly chandelier above. Using the same patterned fabric on the window valances and pillows throughout (Montmartre in Clay/Blue from her own collection for Lee Jofa; leejofa.com), Suzanne introduced color and life to the kitchen without taking away from the all-white effect. Bank Barn is located on a sloping meadow in Woodstock, Vermont. Conceptually inspired by the regional barns built into the banks of hills, Bank Barn was designed and built by Birdseye and features an open living space with a custom steel floating staircase connecting the three levels of the private residence. Drawing from an electricity-based energy system with geothermal heating and cooling through water-to-water and water-to-air systems, Bank Barn was designed to be a net-zero residence pending a future 18 kw solar array.
