A summer house built around salvaged barn beams.
Not far from the beach, the secluded site faces south to the ocean and views.
The large main barn room embraces the main living spaces, including the kitchen. The barn room is anchored on the north with a stone fireplace and on the south with a large bay window. The wing to the east organizes the entry hall and sleeping rooms.

The Fabricsmith provided the fabric and and antique gold hardware. The panels are lined in cotton sateen and have a tassel fringe inset on the lead edge.

Richmond Hill homeowners needed to cover their guest bedroom bay windows and chose to do so with the natural beauty of woven wood shades from Signature Series. This particular pattern is called Aeriana and is composed of bamboo reed. The colour is called Grappa. As far as light control and privacy are concerned, the shade on its own is sheer to light filtering, but the homeowners added a privacy liner, which still allows light to gently filter through, in the colour Champagne. Room darkening liners are also available. Special thanks to John for his professional installation of this Signature Series product available exclusively through Budget Blinds.

Here, the top two shutters are open allowing the homeowner a view to outside while maintaining his indoor privacy.

Coastal Estate in St. Michael's Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. House was designed after the original 1770's house on the property. Home was designed to be a formal house but was now being used as a weekend retreat. Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house.
AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color.
The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay.

Bay windows are made up of a series of windows - traditionally, a picture window flanked by smaller windows at specific angles. Bay windows are typically used to create a small nook, open up a view, or simply add interesting space to a room.
