This was a dream project! The clients purchased this 1880s home and wanted to renovate it for their family to live in. It was a true labor of love, and their commitment to getting the details right was admirable. We rehabilitated doors and windows and flooring wherever we could, we milled trim work to match existing and carved our own door rosettes to ensure the historic details were beautifully carried through.
Every finish was made with consideration of wanting a home that would feel historic with integrity, yet would also function for the family and extend into the future as long possible. We were not interested in what is popular or trendy but rather wanted to honor what was right for the home.

This little girls bedroom started out as a playroom before she was born. You can still see remnants of the former room in the carpet tiles and built-in toy storage. We began the transformation with a pink ceiling that runs down the wall about 18", grey walls below to help dilute the brightness a little and provide a backdrop for other pops of color. This antique bed was drug out of her great-grandmothers attic, as well as the dresser and dressing table. They were all given some much needed love with bright paint colors to match the little girls personality. A window seat with toy storage below was fixed with a purple seat cushion, throw pillows, and a glass bird in a pink birdcage. Wrapping paper was glued below the window seat and on the cabinet doors as wall paper to provide a little pattern in the room. Original kids artwork as well as calendar photos are framed throughout the room. A body pillow creates a comfortable headboard and a colorful, butterfly pattern (which is where most of the colors for the room were pulled) adorn the bed with all white bedding.

This guest room also happens to be an office; out of view is a wall of bookcases and a corner desk. The bed is a day bed or trundle, with a pull-out bed that pops up to create a king-sized bed. Quilted bed cover, bed skirt and pillows are all custom. Bed by Corsican. Window treatments custom. The ceiling is painted a soothing blue to complement the fabrics and create a relaxing ambiance. This could easily also be a teen girls' room. Photo by Harry Chamberlain.

The canopy was removed from this antique four poster bed to give a more spacious feeling to the bedroom. Olive green on the walls and velvet box pleated bed skirt, with dark chocolate brown coverlet and draperies create a tailored and masculine room. Crystal lamps add sparkle, and colorful contemporary art keep the look FUN.

A warm and comforting bedroom dressed up by simple essential features. A Tailored Quilted Coverlet in a subtle pink and green floral print fabric sets the stage for the room’s feminine touch. This floral fabric is repeated on the two windows as asymmetrical swag & jabot treatments, further softening the space with the swags’ delicate curves. The asymmetrical jabots’ integrate the neighboring windows as a major focal point. Using a complimenting floral stripe fabric on both the gathered dust ruffle and on the bolster additionally accentuate this cozy bed. Altogether, these window treatments and bed coverings create a relaxing environment.

Shabby and beautiful. This metal bed is from the 1920s! It was used as the focal point in a storefront window. The antique Edwardian petticoats are what make the bed skirt extra feminine and beautiful!
