The customer likes to have a TV for watching regular broadcast TV and a drop down projection screen for movie and sports. The front speakers are housed on the shelf at the top behind acoustically transparent screens.

Ask the kids, and they’ll tell you that he kid’s zone is best feature in the kitchen. Mom wanted a kid-friendly space next to the work triangle so she could entertain the toddlers while cooking three meals a day. Dad didn’t want the kitchen to become overrun with toys, craft supplies, and a television broadcasting children’s programming. A large wall unit keeps messes contained and craft projects organized. The television is behind pocket doors, so even when the kids are watching their favorite cartoon, it looks clean and uncluttered. And, clean-up is a snap; everything can be closed up and out of sight as soon as Dad gets home, dinner is served, or guests arrive. A nearby cabinet tucked into the island serves as a “hidden” snack center easily accessible to the children. (The kids love showing off their ‘secret’ snack stash to visitors!) The creation of a new suite of offices for Media 3 Ltd at its midtown Manhattan location in New York City is part of an overall expansion of the company across two floors, providing much-needed administrative space for the growing company. Media 3 Ltd broadcasts live video 'Head Shots' to television stations and internet companies around the world. The design for the new offices creates an efficient ensemble of spaces that are modest in scale and budget, yet inviting and rich with color and natural light.

Inspiration for a transitional shed remodel in New Orleans

Within a modest, wood-framed house- was a dark, under accessed and overworked kitchen. On the adjacent wall- was a small, yet well-lit living room that opened onto a patio via sliding doors. The client wanted to spend more time in the kitchen entertaining and cooking. Our solution was to create a unified area to make both spaces simultaneously usable. By removing the wall between the kitchen and the living room, in addition to designing uniform cabinetry that would work for both the kitchen and the social space, we were able to do so. The client agreed to this but did not want a fully exposed kitchen. To this end, we designed not only a wide, dividing counter and bar, but an 'inverted' skylight hood dropping from the ceiling. This device limits view into the kitchen from counter to head height as well as bringing all-day light into this northern sided room and glows green with artificial light reflecting off paint at night. The kitchen is now the main heart of the house, with subordinate, orbiting dining and living areas which are no longer separate rooms. The Spark fireplace replaced an older brick wood fireplace in the approximate location. It is located low to the floor, wrapped in ¼ gunmetal finished steel that wraps around wall corners as well as being recessed from the face of the drywall. It creates an elemental, sparse backdrop for the magic of flame. The metal is slightly reflective, expanding the broadcast of the shimmering fire. The Raptor Lane project requested that TRC pour sidewalks, patios, stairs, breezeways and a pool deck around colonnades. The concrete was a custom blend of various grey colors and included a light broadcast of Sparkle Grain by Pacific Palette on all of the concrete surfaces. The home, built by Howerton Construction, was a blend of old Tuscan style stone and modern architecture designed by Italian Architect Aldo Andreoli. The sparkling grey hardscape that was sand finished, was a subtle and perfect choice to flank this magnificent Casa Bella. This property was featured in Santa Cruz Style Magazine Summer 2012.
