A sleek enclosure we custom designed and installed for Studio Paris in Chicago, IL. Falling somewhere between a modern, industrial, and transitional design, the enclosure fits well with this bustling nightclub's personality in the heart of Chicago.

This urban oasis sits high atop the bustling city streets of Chicago’s downtown. A neutral green palette in the master bedroom lays the foundation for the perfect relaxing environment while the vibrant hues, warm neutrals, and rich gold accents throughout speak fluent “city.” There’s nothing like feeling like you're in the midst of it all while enjoying some quiet time. This urban backyard oasis features 3’ by 3’ bluestone flagstone with blue-chip joints that seamlessly set the stage for backyard entertaining. In order to achieve greenery all year long, we planted Boxwood, Rhododendron, Arborvitae and Pachysandra. And, in the hopes of creating privacy in a bustling Chicago neighborhood, we installed a wood privacy fence, Japanese Maples, a Birch and a Spruce tree.

The front living room, with rich textures and earth tones from the leather accent chairs, velvet throw pillows, and custom drapery, is an elevated gathering space for cocktail hour. The sofa in front of the window was selected with a low back for the family’s dog to perch upon, watching the city bustle by. A cluster of coffee tables in front of the fireplace ensures a spot to set a drink away from wagging tails. The fireplace is warm and inviting, with custom paintings by Chicago’s Matt Nguyen on both sides and white fluted detailing carrying the eye from the mantle to the ceiling.

A modern bedroom with downtown views of Chicago is the perfect respite from a bustling city. The trundle bed allows for extra sleeping arrangements when grandchildren come to town. A Sherpa-textured bedframe gives this room a cozy and fun feel. Exposed concrete and rich warm brown wood floors are a part of the character of this space.

This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

Our homeowners had an issue with their old kitchen in that it felt very cramped and didn't work well. Additionally the bulkheads made it feel very closed in. We put together a design to more efficiently use the space, picked some amazing materials, and the rest is history as they say. Premium Canadian made cabinetry was utilized in the customers chosen Benjamin Moore colours, along with new quartz countertops and waterproof Luxury vinyl plank flooring which is ideal for a kitchen space. A porcilain "brick look" backsplash tied it all together. As you can see, unifying the eating area with the island is a vastly better use of space than the original builder plan and for those larger gatherings, the dining room is right beside the kitchen. Have a look at the original photos and you will see that this kitchen has improved dramatically for the better!

This weekend is a great time for a walk through the garden to see what has made an appearance so far. (Photo by RStarovich)
