This project was ground-up new construction - where we designed, specified and managed thru construction - every aspect of the finishes and layout for interiors, exterior, site work, and landscape.

Bathed in sunlight from the large window expanse, the master bedroom closet speaks to the amount of detail the Allen and James design team brought to this project. This house is discreetly tucked into its wooded site in the Mad River Valley near the Sugarbush Resort in Vermont. The soaring roof lines complement the slope of the land and open up views though large windows to a meadow planted with native wildflowers. The house was built with natural materials of cedar shingles, fir beams and native stone walls. These materials are complemented with innovative touches including concrete floors, composite exterior wall panels and exposed steel beams. A charming 1920s colonial had a dated dark kitchen that was not in keeping with the historic charm of the home. The owners, who adored British design, wanted a kitchen that was spacious and storage friendly, with the feel of a classic English kitchen. Designer Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped her client, while architect Greg Lewis redesigned the home to accommodate a larger kitchen, new primary bath, mudroom, and butlers pantry. Painted in ‘sorrel’ this superb example of a large bespoke bookcase complements this spacious lounge perfectly. There are surprises behind every door in this beautiful bootility. Rooms like this can be designed to house a range of storage solutions and bulky appliances that usually take up a considerable amount of space in the kitchen. Moving large appliances to a dedicated full-height cabinet allows you to hide them out of sight when not in use. Stacking them vertically also frees up valuable floor space and makes it easier for you to load washing.
