Shelter 2.0 is a digitally fabricated transitional shelter built by Pre Black Inc. and designed by Bill Young and Robert Bridges. It is our hope that by offering our designs and cut files to anyone who needs them or has the desire to help those in need that we can help change the way the homeless and displaced are provided for in the future. Shelter 2.0 is about sharing designs and ideas, so that as a design community bound by no borders we can begin to change the way the world thinks about design, production and accessibility.

This homeowner wanted the front illuminated as well as their backyard areas/patios too. Subtle LED low voltage landscape lighting fixtures were installed with ControlSCAPE astronomical digital timer that is in synch with satellite settings for sunset and sunrise each day and adjusts for Daylight Savings Time changes automatically.

Sleek, chic and easy to keep clean? Sounds like a bathroom made in heaven. Even more to love: A high-style toilet with a no-touch flush that helps keep all those pesky germs from spreading.

For us ....we consider the first 3 seconds as you enter a Home, as a first impression set in stone....very little thereafter will change a viewers opinion of a space...
There might be some surprises hidden further in, and some wows for sure...., but the first impression always stands....
Digital security, with a hard copy key and lock, with fingerprints and card access....
Our Other investment Flat Owners value this especially as it eases the leasing with agents and for us to access for periodic maintenance....

The detailed plans for this bathroom can be purchased here: https://www.changeyourbathroom.com/shop/warm-walnut-bathroom-plans/
Warm walnut vanity with white quartz counter top, sinks and matte black fixtures, stacked stone accent wall with mirrored back recessed shelf, digital shower controls, porcelain floor and wall tiles and marble shower floor.

The goal of this project was to upgrade the builder grade finishes and create an ergonomic space that had a contemporary feel. This bathroom transformed from a standard, builder grade bathroom to a contemporary urban oasis. This was one of my favorite projects, I know I say that about most of my projects but this one really took an amazing transformation. By removing the walls surrounding the shower and relocating the toilet it visually opened up the space. Creating a deeper shower allowed for the tub to be incorporated into the wet area. Adding a LED panel in the back of the shower gave the illusion of a depth and created a unique storage ledge. A custom vanity keeps a clean front with different storage options and linear limestone draws the eye towards the stacked stone accent wall.

The layout of this bathroom was opened up to get rid of the hallway effect, being only 7 foot wide, this bathroom needed all the width it could muster. Using light flooring in the form of natural lime stone 12x24 tiles with a linear pattern, it really draws the eye down the length of the room which is what we needed. Then, breaking up the space a little with the stone pebble flooring in the shower, this client enjoyed his time living in Japan and wanted to incorporate some of the elements that he appreciated while living there. The dark stacked stone feature wall behind the tub is the perfect backdrop for the LED panel, giving the illusion of a window and also creates a cool storage shelf for the tub. A narrow, but tasteful, oval freestanding tub fit effortlessly in the back of the shower. With a sloped floor, ensuring no standing water either in the shower floor or behind the tub, every thought went into engineering this Atlanta bathroom to last the test of time. With now adequate space in the shower, there was space for adjacent shower heads controlled by Kohler digital valves. A hand wand was added for use and convenience of cleaning as well. On the vanity are semi-vessel sinks which give the appearance of vessel sinks, but with the added benefit of a deeper, rounded basin to avoid splashing. Wall mounted faucets add sophistication as well as less cleaning maintenance over time. The custom vanity is streamlined with drawers, doors and a pull out for a can or hamper.
A wonderful project and equally wonderful client. I really enjoyed working with this client and the creative direction of this project.

Mid-sized arts and crafts l-shaped medium tone wood floor and brown floor open concept kitchen photo in Sacramento with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, dark wood cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, an island, beige backsplash and matchstick tile backsplash

The previous bathroom design featured a dominant blue tone atmosphere. However, in line with our client’s request, we updated the bathroom's color palette to include yellow and white tones. This change brought a vibrant and fresh ambiance to space. The harmony of yellow and white added warmth and brightness, making the area appear larger and more open.
The chosen patterned tiles added character and movement to the bathroom. These stylish details perfectly complemented the modern aesthetic of the space. Additionally, we incorporated full-height glass cabinets on the walls, providing both a chic and functional storage solution. These cabinets enhanced the overall look of the bathroom with their modern design.
The new bathroom design also prominently features a digital mirror. The digital screen on the mirror displays the time and weather temperature, making bathroom use more practical. This technological touch adds both aesthetic appeal and functionality to the space.

Our clients house was built in 2012, so it was not that outdated, it was just dark. The clients wanted to lighten the kitchen and create something that was their own, using more unique products. The master bath needed to be updated and they wanted the upstairs game room to be more functional for their family.
The original kitchen was very dark and all brown. The cabinets were stained dark brown, the countertops were a dark brown and black granite, with a beige backsplash. We kept the dark cabinets but lightened everything else. A new translucent frosted glass pantry door was installed to soften the feel of the kitchen. The main architecture in the kitchen stayed the same but the clients wanted to change the coffee bar into a wine bar, so we removed the upper cabinet door above a small cabinet and installed two X-style wine storage shelves instead. An undermount farm sink was installed with a 23” tall main faucet for more functionality. We replaced the chandelier over the island with a beautiful Arhaus Poppy large antique brass chandelier. Two new pendants were installed over the sink from West Elm with a much more modern feel than before, not to mention much brighter. The once dark backsplash was now a bright ocean honed marble mosaic 2”x4” a top the QM Calacatta Miel quartz countertops. We installed undercabinet lighting and added over-cabinet LED tape strip lighting to add even more light into the kitchen.
We basically gutted the Master bathroom and started from scratch. We demoed the shower walls, ceiling over tub/shower, demoed the countertops, plumbing fixtures, shutters over the tub and the wall tile and flooring. We reframed the vaulted ceiling over the shower and added an access panel in the water closet for a digital shower valve. A raised platform was added under the tub/shower for a shower slope to existing drain. The shower floor was Carrara Herringbone tile, accented with Bianco Venatino Honed marble and Metro White glossy ceramic 4”x16” tile on the walls. We then added a bench and a Kohler 8” rain showerhead to finish off the shower. The walk-in shower was sectioned off with a frameless clear anti-spot treated glass. The tub was not important to the clients, although they wanted to keep one for resale value. A Japanese soaker tub was installed, which the kids love! To finish off the master bath, the walls were painted with SW Agreeable Gray and the existing cabinets were painted SW Mega Greige for an updated look. Four Pottery Barn Mercer wall sconces were added between the new beautiful Distressed Silver leaf mirrors instead of the three existing over-mirror vanity bars that were originally there. QM Calacatta Miel countertops were installed which definitely brightened up the room!
Originally, the upstairs game room had nothing but a built-in bar in one corner. The clients wanted this to be more of a media room but still wanted to have a kitchenette upstairs. We had to remove the original plumbing and electrical and move it to where the new cabinets were. We installed 16’ of cabinets between the windows on one wall. Plank and Mill reclaimed barn wood plank veneers were used on the accent wall in between the cabinets as a backing for the wall mounted TV above the QM Calacatta Miel countertops. A kitchenette was installed to one end, housing a sink and a beverage fridge, so the clients can still have the best of both worlds. LED tape lighting was added above the cabinets for additional lighting. The clients love their updated rooms and feel that house really works for their family now.

Relish the smart home technology that features app-controlled security, temperature, locks, irrigation, garage doors, and televisions, customizable Lumary ambient digital indoor and outdoor lighting that can change with the season and the mood, and incredible structural integrity including a reinforced foundation, two French drain systems for exceptional efficiency, energy-saving Structural Insulated Panels, and EV chargers for the home and ADU.
The vaulted ceiling soars to 24 feet in the great room that also features a 60-inch gas fireplace with a floor-to-ceiling tile surround, built-in media cabinetry, art niches, and a 75-inch flatscreen. The sizeable room offers plenty of space for formal dining near the built-in buffet, a music room/piano “parlor,” and an expansive living room area.

To fuse an increasingly digital lifestyle with the ever changing demands of a growing family, MAN Architecture and the Blue Truck Studio re-interpreted and transformed an outdated suburban house typology and created a source of inspiration for modern living. Paradoxically ambitious and modest in its aspirations, the interior architecture project was an exercise in reorganizing the cumbersome existing spaces to be more useful, more integrated, and more adaptable. The interior of this 1975 two-story Colonial became a laboratory for the potential of architecture to be playful, nuanced, and present in the human experience. Photo by G. Todd Roberts

Glass House:
The design objective was to build a house for my wife and three kids, looking forward in terms of how people live today. To experiment with transparency and reflectivity, removing borders and edges from outside to inside the house, and to really depict “flowing and endless space”. To construct a house that is smart and efficient in terms of construction and energy, both in terms of the building and the user. To tell a story of how the house is built in terms of the constructability, structure and enclosure, with the nod to Japanese wood construction in the method in which the concrete beams support the steel beams; and in terms of how the entire house is enveloped in glass as if it was poured over the bones to make it skin tight. To engineer the house to be a smart house that not only looks modern, but acts modern; every aspect of user control is simplified to a digital touch button, whether lights, shades/blinds, HVAC, communication/audio/video, or security. To develop a planning module based on a 16 foot square room size and a 8 foot wide connector called an interstitial space for hallways, bathrooms, stairs and mechanical, which keeps the rooms pure and uncluttered. The base of the interstitial spaces also become skylights for the basement gallery.
This house is all about flexibility; the family room, was a nursery when the kids were infants, is a craft and media room now, and will be a family room when the time is right. Our rooms are all based on a 16’x16’ (4.8mx4.8m) module, so a bedroom, a kitchen, and a dining room are the same size and functions can easily change; only the furniture and the attitude needs to change.
The house is 5,500 SF (550 SM)of livable space, plus garage and basement gallery for a total of 8200 SF (820 SM). The mathematical grid of the house in the x, y and z axis also extends into the layout of the trees and hardscapes, all centered on a suburban one-acre lot.
