Inspiration for an eclectic bedroom remodel in DC Metro

The definitive idea behind this project was to create a modest country house that was traditional in outward appearance yet minimalist from within. The harmonious scale, thick wall massing and the attention to architectural detail are reminiscent of the enduring quality and beauty of European homes built long ago. It features a custom-built Spanish Colonial- inspired house that is characterized by an L-plan, low-pitched mission clay tile roofs, exposed wood rafter tails, broad expanses of thick white-washed stucco walls with recessed-in French patio doors and casement windows; and surrounded by native California oaks, boxwood hedges, French lavender, Mexican bush sage, and rosemary that are often found in Mediterranean landscapes. An emphasis was placed on visually experiencing the weight of the exposed ceiling timbers and the thick wall massing between the light, airy spaces. A simple and elegant material palette, which consists of white plastered walls, timber beams, wide plank white oak floors, and pale travertine used for wash basins and bath tile flooring, was chosen to articulate the fine balance between clean, simple lines and Old World touches.

Complete Gut renovation that included removal and relocating of laundry room to basement. The existing kitchen layout and size was not adequate for this home. We opened up the space removed closets, walls and added windows. we gave this kitchen the ultimate appliance package two Bosch dishwashers, Fisher & Paykel Single Drawer Multi-Temperature Refrigerator/Freezer , 36" Thermador Range top, Sharpe Built In microwave. The plumbing Finish was done in Polished Nickel to match the hardware and light fixtures. The floor was done with European Oak with All Natural Hard-Wax Oil. This beautiful wood texture is coarse and characterized by open pores. The Counter tops from Caesarstone and to bring out the color in the wood floor we used a 4" X 12 " Marble Subway tile from Walker Zanger.

Lam is an extending table characterized by distinctive lines and metal details merging with a wooden frame. The characteristics of both these materials are enhanced and perfectly integrated in this piece of furniture: metal is used for the structural components, while wood is used for the top thanks to its sensory properties and the comfortable feeling that it provides. This table features a perfectly integrated system concealed in the frame: the legs slide to one side allowing the extension leaf, in the same color as the top, to be positioned into place. In this way the legs always remain at the corners and their aesthetic value, given by their diagonal position and the coated metal profile, is highlighted. The Lam Dining Table is accompanied by the Ms4 Polypropylene Dining Chair, also by Calligaris.

Open base design modular sofa URBAN is a modular sofa combining elegance, simplicity and style with a sober, rational and contemporary design that makes it perfectly suitable for both modern and classic interiors. The thin, curved armrest that supports the sofa and is prolonged to the ground is the distinguishing feature of this model. It is also characterized by the double-needle stitching carried out with the same care as for sartorial details. The rectangular cushion that completes and decorates the armrest can also be used as lumbar support cushion. The multi-density expanded PU foam seat cushions with a layer made from a blend of down and polyurethane guarantee a pleasant feeling of wrap-around comfort and a long life.
