Game on! We were asked to have some fun and design a tree house for a family with young boys as a part of a charity fundraising project. The family has a huge love for hockey and every year they put in an ice rick for family games. The problem was they had nowhere to keep supplies and change clothing near the rink. In the winter when the games start, they now have a locker room with benches and lockers in the lower section of the tree house. The upper section provides the enlarged tree house "great room" along with a climbing rope, future climbing wall, and a zip line between this structure and an adjacent tree. The owner requested this to be stained wood in the character of the old Canadian hockey houses he grew up with as a child.

Inspiration for a farmhouse home design remodel in Charlotte

This dining room features a large distressed table flanked by a church pew on one side and mismatched dining room chairs on the other. A large buffet sits against an amazing exposed brick wall. The walls feature old recipes from grandma framed along with grandma's china mixed with some other beautiful pieces. The dining room also has an amazing pressed tin ceiling and Castle Comb wood floors.

The Blue Butterfly Sanctuary is the site of an old navel housing facility. The base was constructed in the early 90’s and then inhabited for only three years before becoming a ghost town. After 20 years and miles and miles of red tape the VOA (Veterans of America) got the go ahead to convert these 76 abandoned houses into homes for homeless single mother veterans and their children. As a single mama myself, and as a person who believes that every human who so desires to should have a place they can call home, this project moved me. I joined forces with my stellar sister, Justina Blakeney and together with the helping hands of a few dear friends, a dose of DIY genius, and a bunch of love, we turned this house into a home. On a shoestring ;-)
