Hygge – pronounced "hoo-ga" – is coziness. A way of living that emphasizes the importance of simplicity and unwinding. It's hospitality and warmth. But at DIRTT, it also means a living lab. The home is a giant test subject for the possibilities of prefabricated construction. The home demonstrates what's possible when traditional craftsmanship and modern technology combine. Complex angles and curves become a possibility. Exquisite finishes become reality when labor costs are flipped on their head. The home has become what it was meant to be all along; a place to gather with colleagues, Clients, family and friends to break bread and get to know one another.

Transitional meets Traditional, somewhere in Atlanta, Georgia. If you're looking for sophisticated comfort, intertwined with easy living, this home provides just that. The mixtures of textures and styles allows this home owner the luxury of entertaining for the Super Bowl, all the way to gathering colleagues for an intimate dinner. You will find a little modern push, as you walk through this home, along with a New England flavor. It can be confusing on how so many flavors can be mixed into one space and still find a brilliant flow for the home. Part of the secrete is; undertones. The undertones of paint are the foundation to the ability to work with warms and cools together as a team, and within a flowing palette. Silver pushes through color, and can become different in undertones, depending on what is sitting near that particular color or texture that has the silver undertone.

Location: Alamo, CA, USA When we hear about two interior designers collaborating on a project, we typically think of a massive-scale project like a boutique hotel or some not-to-be-named celebrity’s home. Not so for this project, a sunny poolside cabana in Walnut Creek, California. Former colleagues and friends, Ania Omski-Talwar of Ania Omski-Talwar Interior Design and Heather Lund of Heather Lund Interior Design, teamed up to transform this small space into a majority entertaining spot. These homeowners love to entertain family, friends and work colleagues but their existing floor plan kept hosts and guests awkwardly separated. By removing the preexisting imposing offending wall entirely, the design team was able to create an appropriate environment for entertaining. Perimeter cabinetry in Alabaster White adds to the sense of light and openness in a once-confined space. The contrasting Pecan finished island serves as a focal point for the room. Cambria Berwyn quartz countertops are highlighted by gorgeous Walker Zanger gray ceramic backsplash tile. Calcutta marble and wood water-jet mosaic add just the right amount of visual interest to this kitchen. 205 Photography

I was enlisted to design a nursery for first time parents. Our starting point was white and greys and a love for elephants. The room is small with high ceilings and we had to make every inch counts… sounds familier, I know. Material pallette for this nursery is so textural and swoonworthy. With a feature bubble chandelier anchoring the room and a mix of shagreen, velvet, aged and acrylic, we created a very modern feature nursery. I create this feature wall by installing this beautiful wallpaper. The high ceilings in the apartment really make the space look and feel larger than it is. The ceiling height called for a custom statement chandelier. And this beautiful crib with upholstered side panels and aged brass legs. The room is grounded by this plush performance rug in soft white. I love how different greys and whites and textures unite the space!! Here is where all the function happens… we change and we do laundry while we look at beautiful colorful vintage cars. Our art selection was to bring in some colors and fun to the room. The quilt is handmade by a dear colleague and pairs beautifully with the textured hamper and the luxe shagreen dresser with brass pulls. So many details that go into making a room a come together.

Creating your dream space in a rental home can sometimes feel limiting, but for this project we focused on unlocking colorful possibilities for our clients. Originally, both office spaces were bare and clean but lacked personality. Our goal was to level everything up while injecting more fun and flavor into the office spaces so they had Zoom-friendly backdrops that made them look forward to going into the office each day. Her space was crafted to be fun, playful and full of texture. A gorgeous wooden bookcase with a unique design accent at the bottom became one of the more practical features of the room while the Zoom-worthy artwork behind her desk gave her colleagues and clients an instant conversation starter.

For each area in the room, we selected a beautiful modern table lamp, such as the industrial cement lamp we chose for above. Table lamps make the space more functional, and their glow makes you feel like you’re meeting with a colleague in the comfort of your own home. Greenery was also added to each quadrant to liven the space and keep any area from feeling too corporate. At the same time, most of the design elements you’ll see in these photos are modernist and businesslike: symmetrical, clean, straight lines, and a gender-neutral color palette. This “corporate-cozy” mixture is great for creating a welcoming atmosphere that maintains perfect professionalism.
