The homeowners of this condo sought our assistance when downsizing from a large family home on Howe Sound to a small urban condo in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver. They asked us to incorporate many of their precious antiques and art pieces into the new design. Our challenges here were twofold; first, how to deal with the unconventional curved floor plan with vast South facing windows that provide a 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver, and second, how to successfully merge an eclectic collection of antique pieces into a modern setting. We began by updating most of their artwork with new matting and framing. We created a gallery effect by grouping like artwork together and displaying larger pieces on the sections of wall between the windows, lighting them with black wall sconces for a graphic effect. We re-upholstered their antique seating with more contemporary fabrics choices - a gray flannel on their Victorian fainting couch and a fun orange chenille animal print on their Louis style chairs. We selected black as an accent colour for many of the accessories as well as the dining room wall to give the space a sophisticated modern edge. The new pieces that we added, including the sofa, coffee table and dining light fixture are mid century inspired, bridging the gap between old and new. White walls and understated wallpaper provide the perfect backdrop for the colourful mix of antique pieces. Interior Design by Lori Steeves, Simply Home Decorating. YardDoc designed and created multiple rock landscapes for customers in Austin, TX. These drought resistant landscapes liven up your yard with unique designs and individual beauty. While we craft every landscape to the yard and customer, we present examples here to inspire you.
In this garden, we worked with the existing trees and hedges. We added ferns and succulents to round out the look. Next, we laid mulch, then placed two planters, one containing a small tree. We created a path using dark river rocks, and large, asymmetrical, flat-topped stones as a walkway through the garden. We created shallow retaining walls of natural stone, along the path, to keep mulch free of rocks and vice versa. Finally, we placed solar lights so this area remains functional and enjoyable at night.
Overall, we think this adds a wonderful, fairytale feel to this space, without the commitment to extensive maintenance and care installing a faerie garden entails.

This tiny home is located on a treelined street in the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver. We helped our client create a living and dining space with a beach vibe in this small front room that comfortably accommodates their growing family of four. The starting point for the decor was the client's treasured antique chaise (positioned under the large window) and the scheme grew from there. We employed a few important space saving techniques in this room... One is building seating into a corner that doubles as storage, the other is tucking a footstool, which can double as an extra seat, under the custom wood coffee table. The TV is carefully concealed in the custom millwork above the fireplace. Finally, we personalized this space by designing a family gallery wall that combines family photos and shadow boxes of treasured keepsakes. Located in Whitefish, Montana near one of our nation’s most beautiful national parks, Glacier National Park, Great Northern Lodge was designed and constructed with a grandeur and timelessness that is rarely found in much of today’s fast paced construction practices. Influenced by the solid stacked masonry constructed for Sperry Chalet in Glacier National Park, Great Northern Lodge uniquely exemplifies Parkitecture style masonry. The owner had made a commitment to quality at the onset of the project and was adamant about designating stone as the most dominant material. The criteria for the stone selection was to be an indigenous stone that replicated the unique, maroon colored Sperry Chalet stone accompanied by a masculine scale. Great Northern Lodge incorporates centuries of gained knowledge on masonry construction with modern design and construction capabilities and will stand as one of northern Montana’s most distinguished structures for centuries to come.

These renovated bathrooms blend sleek, modern design with functional elegance. The space features clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic, highlighted by neutral tones of soft greys and whites. A large frameless glass shower with a rainfall showerhead takes center stage, complemented by smooth, matte black fixtures for a striking contrast. The floating vanity, with a white marble countertop, is paired with a large mirror that spans the wall, creating an open, airy feel. Textured tiles in a geometric pattern adorn the floor, adding subtle interest, while underfloor heating provides added comfort. The overall atmosphere is calm, bright, and sophisticated, with an emphasis on both style and practicality.

This picture perfect destination retreat is uniquely situated above the town of Mosier and almost literally on the top edge of a dramatic basalt cliff. The clients’ commitment to minimal waste provided an opportunity for us to get creative, repurposing materials and implementing a number of eco-friendly touches.
The design required several tricky elements, which our team was delighted to engage with, including the installation of stainless steel toe kicks under the cabinets and around the island to tie together the industrial accents throughout.
Four pendant lights hang level with one another, mounted into an insulated, wood-paneled vaulted ceiling. We also installed accent lighting above the existing steel beams to cast a soft glow onto the wood ceiling.
We coordinated with a cabinet maker to reface the existing cabinets with new cabinet doors, side panels and edge banding, and new full extension and soft close hardware.
Tucked away, off the kitchen, is little nook, perfect for combing through recipes or tackling a little work while gazing out at the gardens. These cabinets were custom built to match the kitchen. We replaced the existing baseboards here and house-wide with a custom-milled slim profile base that complements the vertical grain fir finishes throughout the home.

the Girl's Bedroom
All five kids received individualized living space retreats that reflected their personalities. The only girl out of five, this teen was excited to collaborate with Epic to design her bedroom and bath. She made choices that reflected her super cool, fun, and feminine personality. Created from recycled plastic bottles, the rug from Pottery Barn is an apt reflection of the younger generation's commitment to earth-friendly materials (we told you she was cool!). The lounge area with a sectional sofa from Pottery Barn Teen and a West Elm coffee table is perfect for hanging out with friends. The third-floor view gives the feel of being in a treehouse with views to the street below from a pretty lofty height. It's really quite dreamy.

Widesky Custom Homes has recently completed a stunning new build in the community of Bearspaw, southwest of Calgary, and Rochelle Cote Interior Design (RCID) had the pleasure of collaborating on the interior design. The project reflects RCID’s expertise in blending luxury, functionality, and timeless aesthetics to create spaces that are both stylish and inviting.
The home showcases a harmonious mix of traditional and contemporary elements, resulting in a transitional design that feels fresh yet classic. RCID’s thoughtful approach is evident in every detail, starting with the kitchen. The unique hammered metal-look tile backsplash from Centura adds texture and visual interest, contrasting beautifully with the plaster hood fan for a balanced and sophisticated look. The wood island, complete with turned posts, introduces a sense of timeless elegance that complements the transitional style.
In the living area, RCID incorporated a stone fireplace paired with custom wood beams to create warmth and character. These features highlight the firm’s ability to integrate natural materials seamlessly into luxurious interiors. The selection of furniture, décor, and custom artwork further enhances the home’s aesthetic, blending darker cool tones with vibrant pops of color for depth and personality.
This Bearspaw residence exemplifies RCID’s commitment to crafting spaces that reflect their clients’ unique visions while ensuring comfort and style.

This transitional bedroom seamlessly blends classic and contemporary design elements. Sophisticated gray walls and a coffered ceiling provide the perfect backdrop for the modern furnishings and neutral tones, creating a serene and stylish retreat. The space is illuminated by natural light streaming through French doors.

This breathtaking whole-home renovation is a masterclass in balancing raw, natural materials with refined coastal elegance. Reclaimed wood, fieldstone, linen, cane, and soft blue hues weave a cohesive story from the soaring great room all the way up to the nursery — creating a home that feels both grounded in the land and kissed by the sea.
Great Room
The emotional heart of the home is a spectacular great room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace with a hand-hewn reclaimed wood beam mantel and a herringbone brick firebox. Flanking the fireplace are generous built-in white shelving units with linen-backed interiors, beautifully styled with blue-and-white chinoiserie, ceramic vessels, and coastal curiosities.
Overhead, a dramatic cathedral ceiling with exposed reclaimed wood trusses in a king-post configuration draws the eye upward and gives the space an almost barn-like grandeur — softened immediately by the warmth of crisp white walls and abundant natural light pouring in through a wall of French doors. Those doors open to a deck overlooking mature woodland, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
The furnishings strike a balance that feels lived-in and luxurious at once. Two generous cream linen sofas face each other across a soft blue-gray upholstered square ottoman, while a pair of cognac saddle-leather swivel chairs add warmth and contrast. A stone pedestal side table, a rattan tray, and an oversized abstract seascape canvas above the mantel complete a room that is effortlessly inviting.
Kitchen & Dining
The open-plan kitchen and dining space flows seamlessly from the great room, united by the same reclaimed beam ceiling and wide-plank light oak hardwood floors. The kitchen itself is a dream: custom white inset cabinetry with brushed nickel hardware surrounds a showstopping island with a pale blue-gray painted base and a warm natural butcher block top — a choice that brings organic texture and approachability to an otherwise polished space.
A handmade zellige-style light blue brick backsplash adds subtle artisanal character behind a professional-grade six-burner gas range framed by a tailored white custom range hood. Open glass shelves nearby display a curated collection of blue-and-white chinoiserie vases, adding personality and a collected feel. Clear glass-and-nickel pendant lanterns hang over the island, while a stunning crystal rod linear chandelier marks the dining area — a glamorous counterpoint to all the rustic texture in the room.
Cane-back counter stools and a matching set of cane dining chairs in white keep the palette light, fresh, and connected to the home's coastal character. A stone arch passageway between the kitchen and adjacent rooms adds architectural drama and reinforces the home's commitment to natural materiality.
Staircase & Entry
The staircase is a design moment in its own right. A classic woven runner in gray with a crisp navy border brings pattern and polish to the oak treads, while a built-in window seat with a navy cushion at the landing creates a charming reading nook. A nautical-inspired abstract canvas on the entry wall sets the tonal palette for the upper level.
Primary Bedroom
Upstairs, the primary bedroom is a soft, serene retreat wrapped in a soothing dusty blue — walls and ceiling painted the same tranquil tone for an enveloping, cocoon-like effect. A white linen platform bed with an upholstered headboard sits beneath a wide horizontal panoramic cloud painting in a warm wood frame, evoking an open sky. The nightstands — in a soft white with brass ring pulls — are paired with ribbed ceramic table lamps that echo the room's quiet coastal sensibility.
Blue-and-white gingham curtains on a brass rod, a soft white textured carpet, a cream leather recliner, and a slim brass reading floor lamp round out a room that feels simultaneously fresh and deeply restful. Blue embroidered bedding and a striped bolster pillow tie the whole palette together with gentle precision.
Nursery
A thoughtfully designed nursery shares the upper level's soft blue palette, with a classic white Jenny Lind spindle crib, a natural wood book rack, a wicker whale toy basket, and a gold circular mirror creating a space that is sweet without being saccharine. The same cloud painting above the bed and the soft blue walls create a dreamy, sky-like atmosphere perfectly suited for a young child.

Hand-crafted, white Shaker-style cabinets and a custom-made intake hood enclosure serve as a distinctive focal point for showcasing our commitment to tailored details. Black and brass accents, featured in handles and knobs, harmonize with the trim of the intake hood enclosure and lighting fixtures over the kitchen island.
In the kitchen, you will also find dedicated dining spaces that ensure every meal is an opportunity for connection, accommodating family meals, and fostering a sense of togetherness when combined with the overall open concept of the home.

During this kitchen renovation, we reconfigured the entire layout to support a more fluid, open-concept kitchen experience. The expanded island was constructed to anchor daily living and gather guests, complementing the clean geometry of modern kitchen cabinets and integrated modern kitchen appliances. Warm materials soften the strong architectural lines, contributing to a luxury home design that feels inviting while retaining modern kitchen design sophistication. We incorporated modular kitchen ideas to improve storage and movement, ensuring the homeowners enjoy both beauty and efficiency. This reimagined space showcases the craftsmanship behind luxury custom homes and reflects our commitment to modern luxury living. The result brings together modern kitchen remodel strategies with home remodeling ideas tailored for contemporary coastal architecture.

This was a dream project! The clients purchased this 1880s home and wanted to renovate it for their family to live in. It was a true labor of love, and their commitment to getting the details right was admirable. We rehabilitated doors and windows and flooring wherever we could, we milled trim work to match existing and carved our own door rosettes to ensure the historic details were beautifully carried through.
Every finish was made with consideration of wanting a home that would feel historic with integrity, yet would also function for the family and extend into the future as long possible. We were not interested in what is popular or trendy but rather wanted to honor what was right for the home.

In the trails located in the heart of Westlake Village, a homeowner embarked on a transformative journey. Feeling the urge to expand, refresh, and breathe new life into their space, they envisioned more than just additional square footage; they dreamed of a home capable of hosting their large family and grandchildren, becoming the backdrop for countless cherished memories.
Understanding our client’s vision, our team set out to create an open, inviting space bathed in natural light. We aimed to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living while radiating warmth and brightness throughout the home. This commitment to our client’s dream guided us as we transformed every corner of the house.
The transformation began with a significant addition to the back of the house. We knocked down walls, relocated the stairs, and reconfigured the floorplan to enhance flow and functionality. To further enhance the connection with the outdoors, we replaced traditional French doors with a stunning LaCantina door. This change not only expanded the view but also invited the beauty of the outdoors into the heart of the home.
Turning our attention to the dated red brick that adorned the home’s facade, we applied a mortar overlay with creativity and skill. This transformed the tired brick into a fresh, unique feature that set the tone for the entire remodel. Our dedication to detail extended to every inch of the home, with custom finishes and upgrades in the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces. Each detail was carefully chosen and executed to reflect our client’s taste and elevate their living experience.
Understanding our client’s desires for outdoor gatherings, we added two patios—one roofed and one louvered—complete with an outdoor fireplace, lounging, and dining areas. We also built a new pool and added an outdoor BBQ island, creating inviting retreats perfect for family gatherings, relaxation, and making new memories.
As the project neared completion, our client’s dream home stood transformed—a bright, open sanctuary perfectly tailored to their family’s needs and desires. While we provided the expertise, guidance, and craftsmanship, it was our client’s vision, passion, and trust that made it all possible.
In the end, this project was about more than just remodeling a house; it was about crafting a home where love, laughter, and memories could flourish for years to come.
