Glenview Haus – Custom Doors & Wine CellarsUnderutilized space? A keen eye for design and a healthy passion (or obsession) for wine? It’s not every day that you see a luxury wine cellar in a luxe high-rise apartment building. Space is typically limited, and there is not room for expansion. Our client decided to transform space under his sweeping staircase to a clean and modern wine cellar. The Glenview Haus team devised a plan to provide our client with the full package! A temperature-controlled, modern wine cellar, complete with an insulated modern oak door.
Flexibility is one of our many strong suits as designers. We can adapt to any space and/or limitation. When our customer approached us with the idea of creating a modern wine cellar in this space, we jumped on the opportunity to measure and confirm this area could withhold his extensive wine collection. Once we determined our state-of-the-art cooling system would be compatible with this amount of square footage, we happily moved forward and provided all design details and guided this project from start to finish. From the inside out, we were able to provide our expertise on how to accomplish a timeless entity, with a modern twist.
This custom oak wine cellar was built to achieve a luxe design element in a chic downtown loft-style apartment. Adorned with a modern clear insulated glass door, guests are prompted to view the immaculate collection that our customer has to offer. Our goal in this project was to bring a sense cohesiveness to this new design element in our client’s home. We wanted to make sure that this space looked as though it has always been there! The first glimpse at the wine cellar is complemented with a custom oak wood modern door. This is the first impression that you are greeted by, and it does not disappoint. As you walk through the modern door, you enter a matching oak wood masterpiece that boasts several different design elements. Our custom wine racks display bottles in different directions, showing off each element of a wine bottle. Top-down, tilted back, or layered on top of each other in a diagonal cut out, regardless of how your wine is displayed, it is guaranteed to ‘wow’ in our custom oak cellar!
RL Design and BuildThis backyard was completely reimagined into a modern, fully automated outdoor living space designed for relaxation, entertaining, and year-round enjoyment.
At the center of the design is a fully automated 11’ x 9’ inground spa, equipped with a dedicated pump for powerful swimming jets and a sleek sheer descent water feature. The spa is finished with pour-in-place coping, stack stone on the spa facing, and low-voltage LED lighting to enhance both functionality and nighttime ambiance.
Adjacent to the spa is a custom rectangular fire pit, featuring pour-in-place coping, stack stone veneer, and integrated low-voltage lighting, creating a warm and inviting focal point for evening gatherings.
For entertaining, we built a custom BBQ island topped with a concrete countertop, and fully equipped with an ice chest, refrigerator, trash pull-out, and ample storage space, offering both durability and a clean, modern aesthetic.
The hardscape includes 24” x 12” decking pavers installed throughout the yard and continued along the side of the house, all designed with proper drainage for long-term performance and durability.
A raised planter system adds structure and greenery to the space, finished with pour-in-place coping, smooth stucco planter faces, and low-voltage lighting both on and within the planters. An irrigation drip system was integrated into all planters to ensure efficient watering and healthy plant growth with minimal maintenance.
To soften the design, artificial grass with stepping stones was installed, creating a low-maintenance, lush look while improving flow through the yard.
For evening atmosphere, three metal posts were installed for string lighting, complemented by low-voltage lighting throughout all flat and raised planters to deliver layered, resort-style ambiance after dark.
Finally, white vinyl gates and fencing were added to enclose and conceal the spa and pool equipment, topped with a privacy extension to keep the space visually clean and private.
The result is a cohesive, modern outdoor retreat that balances design, comfort, and functionality. Perfect for both entertaining and everyday enjoyment.
Urban Oasis Landscape DesignSculptural agaves, succulents and California native plants punctuate the front landscape complementing the “arroyo seco” rain garden studded with boulders and branches. The rain garden catches 50% of the stormwater runoff from the roof and infiltrates it into the soil. The remaining 50% of the runoff goes to a second rain garden in the back yard.

This project focused on transforming a dated, sparse front entry into a textured and inviting landscape that complements the home’s classic red brick exterior.
The Challenge:
The original landscape (seen in the "Before" photos) lacked definition, featuring aging shrubs and a worn flagstone path that didn't quite manage the slight slope of the yard. The goal was to create a more intentional, high-end look that felt both organic and structured.
The Solution:
Stone Artistry: We replaced the old borders with hand-stacked Oklahoma chop stone retaining walls. This added much-needed height and structure, creating clean lines that frame the new turf and planting beds.
The Dry Creek Bed: A focal point of the design is the custom Colorado river rock dry creek bed interspersed with large flagstone steppers. This not only serves as a beautiful visual "river" flowing through the landscape but also provides a functional solution for water runoff.
Lush Layers: We swapped out the old, thin grass for a vibrant, healthy lawn and introduced a variety of drought-tolerant plantings and ornamental grasses. The use of dark mulch provides a sharp contrast, making the greens of the plants and the earthy tones of the stone truly pop.
The result is a low-maintenance, high-impact landscape that provides a warm, sophisticated welcome to the home.

SALA ArchitectsThe homeowners sought to create a modest, modern, lakeside cottage, nestled into a narrow lot in Tonka Bay. The site inspired a modified shotgun-style floor plan, with rooms laid out in succession from front to back. Simple and authentic materials provide a soft and inviting palette for this modern home. Wood finishes in both warm and soft grey tones complement a combination of clean white walls, blue glass tiles, steel frames, and concrete surfaces. Sustainable strategies were incorporated to provide healthy living and a net-positive-energy-use home. Onsite geothermal, solar panels, battery storage, insulation systems, and triple-pane windows combine to provide independence from frequent power outages and supply excess power to the electrical grid.

1. New Driveway with Automatic Gates: The design features a contemporary driveway equipped with automated gates, providing convenience and improved security for the property.
2. Exercise Gym with Yoga Area: A dedicated space for fitness activities that includes both a traditional exercise gym and a serene yoga area, encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.
3. Coffee Station with Juice Bar: This inviting area is designed for relaxation and socialization, featuring a coffee station complemented by a juice bar to enhance outdoor entertaining.
4. Secluded Meditation Space: A tranquil retreat is included, featuring a soothing wall fountain, cold plunge, and sauna, all surrounded by lush tropical vegetation to create an oasis for relaxation and mindfulness.
5. Lush Tropical Vegetation: The landscaping incorporates a variety of tropical plants that enhance privacy, beautify the space, and contribute to the overall calming atmosphere of the outdoor environment.
Project Goals: The main goals of the project were to:
• Visualize the backyard renovation to gain approval from the homeowner’s association.
• Facilitate collaboration with the contractor by providing detailed renderings.
• Create an aesthetically appealing and functional outdoor living space that meets the lifestyle needs of the homeowners.
The 3D renderings successfully encapsulated the vision for the backyard renovation, presenting a harmonious blend of design and functionality. The visualizations served as a critical tool in moving forward with the project, ensuring clarity in communication and direction for all stakeholders involved.

MPdL StudioThe Bloomfield Hills Residence is a 10,400sf single-family home in Bloomfield Hills, MI, designed for a young family looking for unique architecture and meticulous interior design in their new home. MPdL Studio served as both design architect and architect of record for this home in which every detail was customized for the family's lifestyle, with high-end design and healthy living at its core.
Our design paid particular attention to detailed brick work, glass walls, millwork, and cabinetry. The exterior is Endicott dark ironspot brick, stucco, cypress windows and trim, and slate roof. The interior materials include bluestone and walnut floors, knotty oak, and milk painted maple cabinetry. In addition to selecting all furnishings, light fixtures, table settings, and the curation of art work, MPdL Studio custom-designed key furniture. For example, the dining room contains a walnut wood hand-carved table that seats up to sixteen, while the bar area features a walnut butcher block counter and frosted bronze glass shelves. The wooden staircase in the entry features details that are all customized with unique alignment elements from the vertical seams to the treads on the ground, and the wood and metal handrails. Airy curtains line the walls and turn around corners, complementing the architecture of the space. The kitchen and family room were designed as an open space for an active family with ample storage, comfortable furniture, and views to the back yard which include an outdoor pool, cabana, and custom play structures for the children.
