A&E Construction. This traditional bathroom remodel features stunning marble tile in complimentary subway and herringbone patterns. The freestanding clawfoot tub and outstanding view of the exterior forest areas are the focal points of this peaceful space.

We choose to highlight this project because even though it is a more traditional design style its light neutral color palette represents the beach lifestyle of the south bay. Our relationship with this family started when they attended one of our complimentary educational seminars to learn more about the design / build approach to remodeling. They had been working with an architect and were having trouble getting their vision to translate to the plans. They were looking to add on to their south Redondo home in a manner that would allow for seamless transition between their indoor and outdoor space. Design / Build ended up to be the perfect solution to their remodeling need. Like many in the South Bay, the kitchen is the heart of the home to this family. The homeowners wanted a space that was elegant, warm and clean – an accurate representation of their tastes and style; a place to host Sunday barbecues. The island countertop is natural quartz called Corteccia Leather Slab. A lively cream and blue green quartzite with striking linear striation, Corteccia slabs from Brazil have a special leather finish. Similar to honing, leathering a stone closes the pores, making it much less susceptible to staining and allowing for better performance. The leathered finish presents a unique texture while retaining the stone’s natural color. Since the island was such a rock star we were challenged to find its perfect understated compliment for the perimeter countertops. We selected a polished slab of Madre Perla; a classic natural quartzite. Not only are the colors complimentary but the leather and polished textures play off each other nicely. The rest of the kitchen design fell into place from there.

The Pleasant Beach Shop was designed to complement the main house that had been constructed in the early 2,000’s. The Shop supports a functioning, thriving woodworking business and at the same time is a complimentary neighbor amongst the residential context. The shop is lit by both artificial and natural light through a continuous light monitor along the ridge of the roof. This monitor allows for both height and light when working inside the Shop and acts as a lantern to the forest during the evening.

The cabinets are a shade darker than the original tile. It is Benjamin Moore's 991 (Grége Avenue). The walls compliment the vintage pink tile with a warm color of Benjamin Moore's 219 (Coronado Cream). Updated lighting and beveled mirror, as well as the cheerful window coverings, complete the clean and inviting bathroom.

Even though the flooring isn't installed yet, this "farmhouse" inspired dressing room is breathtaking. Artic White finish is given a complimentary contrast with dark Ore finish accents on crown molding and tops, and oil rubbed bronze pulls and rods.

The Son’s bedroom features a popular neo classical backdrop as a timeless aesthetic with unique contemporary touches to it. Blue and tan – which are complimentary colors are intentionally used in areas that visually draw the whole room together. The chesterfield arm chair, David painting and the moldings on the wall add a neoclassical touch to it, while the stone veneer behind the TV and the black tinted wardrobe, keep the room feeling young and fresh.

Contemporary Style Giving your kitchen personality & style is achieved by working with our designers to select detailed joinery & colour combinations. This client's brief was a contemporary space, with accent colours & surfaces. Cool green "Bayleaf" on the island with V-Groove cabinets are highlighted with matt brushed brass "nick pull" handles. Tonal variation is achieved with complimentary variation in the Caesarstone benchtops in "Snow" & "Cloudburst Concrete"

This award winning design incorporated elegant though understated fixtures. The cabinetry was finished in Lustrolite Acrylic high gloss wall panels to maximize light reflection and increase durability. Reflective silver tiles were used in the backsplash and below the cabinets. Complimentary light tone ceramic tile, marble counter tops and light wall color were selected to increase luminosity. For this newly-built waterfront home on Long Island’s north shore, Bakes & Kropp designed a modern, transitional kitchen and complimentary bathroom spaces. Led by Senior Kitchen Designer Mary Dimichino, the design team drew inspiration from the peaceful water vista framed by the kitchen windows. The result is an open, airy space with clean lines and a soothing mixture of white and walnut finishes tempered by polished metal accents.
