These homeowners wanted to organize their small backyard into a family friendly space for all to enjoy. Key elements included a covered deck, space for a patio, space for a trampoline, and privacy from neighbors that did not feel like a typical fence. We selected Azek Vintage decking in Coastline to create a clean, light modern look for the deck and built-in bench. The Lexan trellis allows light in, but keeps the space underneath dry. Integrated low voltage lights illuminate the space under the trellis as well as the deck steps. Raised planters create pockets of green within the composition. The design also accommodates a hot tub and large trampoline. The end result is a space that the entire family can enjoy!

This Columbia home had one deck which descended directly into their backyard. Rather than tuck their seven person hot tub on the concrete patio below their deck, we constructed a new tier. Their new deck was built with composite decking, making it completely maintenance free. Constructed with three feet concrete piers and post bases attaching each support according to code, this new deck can easily withstand the weight of hundreds of gallons of water and a dozen or more people. Aluminum rails line the stairs and surround the entire deck for aesthetics as well as safety. Taller aluminum supports form a privacy screen with horizontal cedar wood slats. The cedar wall also sports four clothes hooks for robes. The family now has a private place to relax and entertain in their own backyard. Dimensions In Wood is more than 40 years of custom cabinets. This project is a huge gable style patio cover with covered deck and aluminum railing with glass and cable on the stairs. The Patio cover is equipped with electric heaters, tv, ceiling fan, skylights, fire table, patio furniture, and sound system. The decking is a composite material from Timbertech and had hidden fasteners.

Inspiration for a small coastal beige two-story wood exterior home remodel in Boston

This residence represents the dynamic collaboration between artist and architect. The architectural experience seeks to unite the tactile warmth of earth and clay with the compositional elegance of craft. Against a textured canvas of linen and limestone, light is leveraged to bring dimension and life to the architecture on every level. Through the radical embrace of nature, guests are greeted by a 16’ tall Australian Brachychiton tree as they enter the double-height entry. The home is organized around a large, outdoor courtyard which creates fluid continuity and access between the indoor and outdoors. From a chandelier of ceramic bells to a locally sourced, custom dining table, every major element has been calibrated to add to timeless composition of the home.

Inspiration for a transitional deck remodel in Charlotte

The unique opportunity and challenge for the Joshua Tree project was to enable the architecture to prioritize views. Set in the valley between Mummy and Camelback mountains, two iconic landforms located in Paradise Valley, Arizona, this lot “has it all” regarding views. The challenge was answered with what we refer to as the desert pavilion. This highly penetrated piece of architecture carefully maintains a one-room deep composition. This allows each space to leverage the majestic mountain views. The material palette is executed in a panelized massing composition. The home, spawned from mid-century modern DNA, opens seamlessly to exterior living spaces providing for the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living.
