Straight ahead, a streamlined kitchen opens to a formal dining area and beyond that, a dedicated media and Mah Jong room designed for relaxed gathering. The palette balances jewel tones with crisp whites and greys. Bold in intention but disciplined in execution. This new open area allowed us to extend the granite countertop to create a peninsula/bar that provides additional seating. To improve the existing lighting plan, we added new LED recessed lights, under-cabinet lighting, and pendant lighting over the peninsula. The selections were integral in making the kitchen feel lighter and larger. Our clients chose maple cabinetry with an oak stained tumbleweed finish paired with creamy granite countertops, and a pearl tumbled travertine backsplash. A few standout features include a set of floating shelves, concrete farmhouse sink, and mercury glass pendant lights. Flooring throughout the first floor was updated to an easy to maintain wood-look vinyl plank floor. James Latta of Rancho Images - MOVIE COLONY When we met these wonderful Palm Springs clients, they were overwhelmed with the task of downsizing their vast collection of fine art, antiques, and sculptures. The problem was it was an amazing collection so the task was not easy. What do we keep? What do we let go? Design Vision Studio to the rescue! We realized that to really showcase these beautiful pieces, we needed to pick and choose the right ones and ensure they were showcased properly. Lighting was improved throughout the home. We installed and updated recessed lights and cabinet lighting. Outdated ceiling fans and chandeliers were replaced. The walls were painted with a warm, soft ivory color and the moldings, door and windows also were given a complimentary fresh coat of paint. The overall impact was a clean bright room. We replaced the outdated oak front doors with modern glass doors. The fireplace received a facelift with new tile, a custom mantle and crushed glass to replace the old fake logs. Custom draperies frame the views. The dining room was brought to life with recycled magazine grass cloth wallpaper on the ceiling, new red leather upholstery on the chairs, and a custom red paint treatment on the new chandelier to tie it all together. (The chandelier was actually powder-coated at an auto paint shop!) Once crammed with too much, too little and no style, the Asian Modern Bedroom Suite is now a DREAM COME TRUE. We even incorporated their much loved (yet horribly out-of-date) small sofa by recovering it with teal velvet to give it new life. Underutilized hall coat closets were removed and transformed with custom cabinetry to create art niches. We also designed a custom built-in media cabinet with "breathing room" to display more of their treasures. The new furniture was intentionally selected with modern lines to give the rooms layers and texture. When we suggested a crystal ship chandelier to our clients, they wanted US to walk the plank. Luckily, after months of consideration, the tides turned and they gained the confidence to follow our suggestion. Now their powder room is one of their favorite spaces in their home. Our clients (and all of their friends) are amazed at the total transformation of this home and with how well it "fits" them. We love the results too. This home now tells a story through their beautiful life-long collections. The design may have a gallery look but the feeling is all comfort and style.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: These, like many of our clients, are multiple luxury home owners. As they traveled, inspiration turned into multiple renovation phases kept cohesive with our firm's design and construction. First the kitchen was opened up for their comfort and to maximize the incredible sea & marsh vistas, then the master bed made into a bed/bath suite, then the living room modernized. RENOVATONS: The in-house kitchen design maximized both practical comfort and entertainment which included extending the island and relocating the sink to the end of the island. Condo bylaws usually limit coring through floor slabs so the island was raised to accommodate the necessary plumbing underneath. To see the incredible sunsets over the marsh, the contiguous room walls were shortened and kitchen counterspace added. We fabricated rock maple custom cabinetry in a muted washed grey stain to capture the subtle definition of the wood grain. Storage was accommodated in for a butlers pantry with pullout trays to for practical reachable convenience. The kitchen's focal point is a custom niche surround for the Thermador gas range made practical for cooking incorporated uncials and spice access. A gorgeous tile backsplash the owner selected added the final panache and glitz which also complements the Cambia quartz countertops. Appliances are a 36" subzero refrigerator, Fisher Paykel two drawer dishwasher, Thermador 36" gas range suitable for creating delicate sauces, a custom hood, and a stainless drawer microwave. MASTER BATH renovation transformed two contiguous rooms into a luxury master suite. Removing several walls, we were able to design for a spacious double sink vanity and include a personalized makeup center while fitting the new shell floor tiles seamlessly to match the master bedroom flooring. Custom cabinetry with oak match booked lateral grain drawers form a unique monolithic style that flows as a tree would from one end to the other. Satin frameless glass doors were added to the shower and water closet for an airy - spa feel, while functioning for privacy. LIVING ROOM Entertainment cabinetry were added for travel mementos and electronics along with the removal of the traditional fireplace.
