Situated in old Palo Alto, CA, this historic 1905 Craftsman style home now has a stunning landscape to match its custom hand-crafted interior. Our firm had a blank slate with the landscape, and carved out a number of spaces that this young and vibrant family could use for gathering, entertaining, dining, gardening and general relaxation. Mature screen planting, colorful perennials, citrus trees, ornamental grasses, and lots of depth and texture are found throughout the many planting beds. In effort to conserve water, the main open spaces were covered with a foot friendly, decorative gravel. Giving the family a great space for large gatherings, all while saving water.

The centerpiece and focal point to this tiny home living room is the grand circular-shaped window which is actually two half-moon windows jointed together where the mango woof bar-top is placed. This acts as a work and dining space. Hanging plants elevate the eye and draw it upward to the high ceilings. Colors are kept clean and bright to expand the space. The love-seat folds out into a sleeper and the ottoman/bench lifts to offer more storage. The round rug mirrors the window adding consistency. This tropical modern coastal Tiny Home is built on a trailer and is 8x24x14 feet. The blue exterior paint color is called cabana blue. The large circular window is quite the statement focal point for this how adding a ton of curb appeal. The round window is actually two round half-moon windows stuck together to form a circle. There is an indoor bar between the two windows to make the space more interactive and useful- important in a tiny home. There is also another interactive pass-through bar window on the deck leading to the kitchen making it essentially a wet bar. This window is mirrored with a second on the other side of the kitchen and the are actually repurposed french doors turned sideways. Even the front door is glass allowing for the maximum amount of light to brighten up this tiny home and make it feel spacious and open. This tiny home features a unique architectural design with curved ceiling beams and roofing, high vaulted ceilings, a tiled in shower with a skylight that points out over the tongue of the trailer saving space in the bathroom, and of course, the large bump-out circle window and awning window that provides dining spaces.

We were honored to be chosen by Honda Corporation North America to be involved in the Honda Smart Home project which was designed and built in partnership with the University of California Davis on the West Davis Campus in 2014. This was the fifth Honda Smart Home Honda Corporation had built throughout the world (the first in the United States). The goal of each Honda Smart Home is to provide a “Living Laboratory” that allows the most current and innovative design and products to be implemented in construction and tested over time.

A classic New England antique home elevated by the gardens that surround it. A mix of native plants and easy-care perennials frame every nook and cranny of this stunning property.

The sides of these buildings were clad in corrugated sheet metal, but had the most interesting louvered facades, also known as Brise soleils. The louvers allow for natural ventilation in hot climates, keeping direct sun out and allowing for diffused light to enter, but still remaining private and impenetrable. More then a shed its a machine that harvests rainwater and gray-water, stores it, and pressurizes it. The shed supplies the property with more then 10,000 gallons annually of what would have been wasted water. Aside from water, the shed serves as long-term storage for the family, a work shop, mechanics bay, tool room, and laundry room.
