Inspiration for a transitional kitchen remodel in San Francisco

BlueStar Regional Winner Wendy Berry, W Design Location: Chagrin Falls, OH Project Name: Turn of the Century We wanted to make a statement in this kitchen renovation and knew that the 60” RNB Series Range with 12” Griddle in jet black (RNB608GV2) would be a total showstopper. The challenge in this project was merging the husband’s traditional style with the wife’s modern taste. This kitchen is a bridge between the two aesthetics. The transitional shaker style white cabinetry on the perimeter and white pearl quartzite slab nods towards the classic feel. Juxtaposed with the modern influences of the black iron accents and polished brass hardware, the kitchen is the perfect marriage of opposing styles. The subtle gray glass herringbone backsplash makes for an understated backdrop that allows the BlueStar Range to really shine. The custom black hood with brass perimeter detailing brings out the gold knobs in the BlueStar range for some added drama.

Caroline Smith, owner of Caroline V. Smith Interiors in Memphis, TN, is the Grand Prize Winner of BlueStar's 2019 Kitchen Design Contest. Her sophisticated and classic design that features brass accents throughout blends classic elegance with high performance for a family of four that loves to cook and entertain. Caroline selected white cabinets with a dark blue island to create a perfect balance with the BlueStar appliances that the customer specified not only for their performance, but also for their customization options. Both the 36” Platinum Series Rangetop and Double Electric Wall Oven with Drop Down Doors feature antique brass trim and Grey Blue (RAL 5008) paint and knobs to tie into the colors of the kitchen. The room echoes the client’s color preferences in the gold veins of the trims and the brass faucets. Brass accents also brighten the navy and white pairing and add a modern richness throughout the kitchen creating the perfect example of the harmony of these three colors.

The Broadmoor door style was chosen to give a transitional design look with its full overlay door style and applied molding. The finish is painted white on maple.
