Traditional Thai homes are usually built as a cluster of physically separated rooms arranged around a large central terrace. Interpreting the traditional typology of the Thai houses, the Residence Navathani consists in two parallel wings, separated by a large garden and a swimming pool. The objective of the stone architecture is to give a sense of unity and blend the building with trees, plants and other natural landscape. Trees are often allowed to grow in the central area of the traditional Thai house with plants always featured prominently to create a strong relationship with nature.
The choice of Thai travertine as the main stone for the building stems from the following objectives: first, the stone must display a strong natural character with contrasting color hues and crystalline veins, which contribute to blending the architecture into the
landscape. Second, the design of the stone provides a sense of unity to the building. The façade of each wing displays an array of columns of various widths and spacings and there is an alignment of the columns between the two wings. The texture is rough on the outside face of the columns and honed on the sides as it
continues through the window to the inside of the house. The two wings are connected by a long screen wall that separates the drop-off area from the private areas. This wall is pierced with square openings which helps to show a relationship between the two areas. The façade facing the entrance features stone in contrasting but related ways: the right hand wing is clad with honed stone on top of a large window, while the opposite wing displays
a chiseled stone wall on the bottom with a large window on top. The architecture extends to the outside of the right-hand wing with a private theater of a modern contemporary design. The stone featured on the façade changes to a minimalist grey basalt while continuing the column concept with the alternate textures grooved on the facing and honed on the sides.

Frameless glass balustrades were installed throughout the internal spaces, such as along the stairwells, to continue the flow of daylight. These frameless glass balustrades are also the perfect addition to the interior design as they do not take anything away from the heritage features of the architecture. Although these glass balustrades are highly modern, they are elegant glazing products that maintain the existing architectural aesthetic.

M Y B A C K G R O U N D:
All my paintings are oil on canvas, using mainly palette & painting knives, with thick application, bold strokes, painterly detail and rich colors.
The palette knife gives my art a unique combination of contrast, fluidity, depth, texture and impact. I do not typically use a brush, as I prefer the way I can mix buttery paints and smear them on my canvas with a flexible metal blade. The amazing thick texture achieved with the knife reflects the light more than a regular brush painting and gives a beautiful sense of movement, with subtle highlights.
I am originally from New Zealand, where the beauty of nature is unsurpassed. The luminescent beauty of our amazing world inspires me, and I feel it in every stroke. I try to reflect this in my work and invite you to enjoy it as I do.

The design of the living room continues the non-orthogonal concept of the external architecture. The facets enhance the modernity and underline the light beams entering the room from the south west side. The stone color reacts and contrasts in relation to the angle and orientation to the main natural light source in ar array of hues of greys, greens and blues. The continuation of the stone pattern from the outside to the inside emphasizes the flow of the light. Stones and Roses International (SRI) started this challenging piece of work from a general elevation.
The first step consisted in building a 3d model in particle board. Then SRI followed through with the 3d Auto-CAD drawing of the stone wall. Folding the stone along the facets, involved the drawing of more than 40 sections which were later assembled at precise angles. The last step consisted of calculating the size and angle of each slab for production. SRI also designed and manufactured the steel structure which was erected parallel and recessed from the stone wall in order to receive the dry fixing anchors for the installation of the stone slabs.

Imagine stepping into a luxurious bathroom where modern design meets timeless elegance. At the heart of this space is a stunning black concrete tub, weighing in at an impressive 900 pounds. This tub, with its bold presence, sits within an expansive shower enclosure, transforming the entire area into a sophisticated wet room. The wet room concept blurs the boundaries between the bathing and showering spaces, creating a seamless flow and an open, airy feel.
Above the tub, a large chandelier commands attention, casting a warm, inviting glow over the space. The chandelier not only illuminates the room but also adds a dramatic, sculptural element that elevates the overall design. Its intricate details and the play of light against the dark, matte surface of the tub create a striking contrast that’s both modern and luxurious.
The walls of the wet room are clad in large-format tiles with a subtle texture, enhancing the room's sense of depth and sophistication. The floor is a continuation of the same material, ensuring a cohesive and polished look throughout the space. The fixtures, finished in sleek matte black, complement the tub and add a touch of understated elegance.
Every element in this remodeled bathroom has been carefully curated to create a sanctuary of relaxation and style, where the boldness of the black tub is balanced by the softness of the ambient lighting, making this a bathroom that truly leaves a lasting impression.

Well situated in Mont Royal, this split-level home had many positives apart from its dated interior, and layout of many small and inefficient rooms. This was all at odds with the owners’ lifestyle and aesthetic.
The client had architectural plans designed for a third floor addition that were to include a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The desired look for the entire house influenced all aspects of construction. Apart from the removal most walls on the main floor, everything was stripped back to the most simple and pure of finishing materials.
The existing floors were refinished in a smoked grey matte palette and offset the rich warm walnut accents in the kitchen and soft white walls.
With an abundance of white walls throughout, feature walls were essential in both the master bedroom and ensuite. The deep charcoal wall in the bedroom provides dramatic contrast to the teak headboard and hammered silver light fixture. The ensuite’s feature wall is made of pewter ceramic tiles that add texture and elegance to this simple space.
Materials and furnishings throughout were selected for their simplicity and form.
