Using reclaimed barn wood siding and flooring in various lengths and widths, the homeowners accomplished their task of making the room warmer and full of character. Each piece has it own story as the wood comes from three different barns in Michigan. They now have a full wall of artwork and a great conversation piece.

What started as a kitchen and two-bathroom remodel evolved into a full home renovation plus conversion of the downstairs unfinished basement into a permitted first story addition, complete with family room, guest suite, mudroom, and a new front entrance. We married the midcentury modern architecture with vintage, eclectic details and thoughtful materials.

The Tudor style arch on the carved stone fireplace is one of the many found throughout the house. An opulently patterned wool and silk rug from Stark Carpet and a French nineteenth century chandelier add Old-World touches.

This second master bath on the main floor was designed for comfort. The bench was placed for a place to relax as well as a great conversation piece. The floating cabinets keep the space open and modern. The tile work throughout this bathroom was simple and sophisticated .
