Situated on the University Lakes in Baton Rouge, LA, these homeowners were initially looking for a fence to contain their two dogs. Several conceptual designs and revisions later, we arrived at the concept that was constructed.
The homeowners have an 80+ year old Live Oak in the backyard that they wanted to be a feature of their new outdoor oasis. They also wanted a spa to be able to use year-round for themselves and family parties.
With the focus being on creating a New Orleans-style courtyard and preserving the fantastic specimen Live Oak, a sideyard courtyard was born.

This client came to us wanting to enhance their existing space by using some creative finishes for walls. They hoped to make the home feel more modern with an urban rustic vibe as opposed to the traditional architectural style of the structure but did not know how to accomplish this transition. Upon our arrival it was noted that all walls had been painted white which was determined too harsh and did not achieve the modern feel the homeowner had hoped to evoke. The space was softened by using a subtle and fresh color palette with one accent color for impact. Teal was the color selected to create a continuous thread of pop in varying degrees in each room which included the Entry Hall, Dining Room and Living Room. Touches of black were injected into each space due to the client’s previous purchases of a drum fixture for the living room and black dining table; both gave direction on scale and style.
The Entry Hall was given powerful impact as someone enters the home by taking its cue from the abstract art selected for the Dining Room. A faux concrete wall was created with the use of artistically combined colors. In the Dining Room, the use of classic chairs are successfully made modern by upholstering in teal leather which added both continuity and unexpected interest next to the velvet Greek Key pattern found on host chairs. In the Living Room custom upholstered sofa and chairs are grounded by a rug that brings all colors together. A unique copper rivet finish was applied in the niches that flank the fireplace as a contrast to whimsical amber crystal mini chandeliers hung over modern consoles that display simple yet exciting teal bowls. The final furnishings, art and accessories ultimately brought the entire home together in a rustic, modern way that is warm and inviting reflecting the unique personality of the people who live there.

Miles Enterprises worked with the homeowner to bring all of these design elements together in a kitchen that arrived at the look the customer desired. Our design team can bring your ideas and the latest styles and techniques together to create a one of kind kitchen for your home.

Connie Wyland has worked on several beauty salons in the past, including Pzazz Salon and Day Spa, located in Old Town Silverdale WA. The salon owner wanted some innovative renovations ideas to update the look of her salon.
The first stage was to choose new paint colors for the walls in the both the front waiting area and around the work stations. Space planning was done to relocate the reception desk making it's location more functional and facing the door so to greet the clients as they arrive. (See the attached floor plans).
The receptionist desk was refaced with NuMetal laminate in stainless steel and copper metals. We then epoxy glued on brushed nickel and copper knobs onto the opposite color metal laminate drawer face.
New flooring was install throughout the salon in three areas; the waiting area, stylist's work areas and Day Spa area. In the waiting area we installed a porcelain tile with a coordinating 4x12 listello liner and 1x1 copper glass and porcelain mosaic laid in a random layout. The stylist's work area a 16x16 LVT (luxury vinyl tile) with a stamped concrete look that we straight laid. The back area of the salon, the Day Spa, is a combination of four colors of 12x12 LVT Centiva Coral Reef and Magic tiles which we laid in interesting patterns.

Existing house had no covered entry way nor any sense of arrival. The porch anchors the house and radically changes the flatness of the front facade. The space directly below is a new full bathroom serving the remodeled basement. The sunken walk out lightwell sits disguised below grade while the remodeled skylit sunroom on the left, relates to the water feature, side patio and outdoor kitchen. The front garden and brick path was designed and installed by London Landscapes.
