For this project, I helped my client downsize from a larger home to a smaller attached home. I determined which furnishings could be reused - where and how; what should be eliminated; and what needed to be newly purchased. In this space the sectional, accent pillows, and floral art are new, everything else is from the client's former home. I helped her determine the correct size and fabric to be used for the sectional. Jennifer Comfort, thecolorpsychic, was consulted to select the paint colors.

This new home near Crofton, NE was essentially designed by the homeowner herself. She wanted white to be the focus of her new kitchen and after a little bit of research she knew Cambria carried the best selection of white countertop designs. Her home features Cambria Ella in the large galley style kitchen on her island and perimeter which is accented with her slate appliances. The white farmhouse sink gives her kitchen a little bit of that country charm. So that the home was not white throughout she incorporated dark cabinetry in the bathrooms. A small powder bath on the main level features a Cambria Minera countertop; the master bath vanity countertops are Cambria Brittanicca and the children's bathroom showcases Cambria Berwyn. The home office brings some masculinity into the home with dark wood cabinets and Cambria Laneshaw.

This home was screaming, ‘I have SO much potential!’ The scope included a kitchen refresh, living room refresh and furnishing, and a full renovation for the primary bathroom. A lot can be done even on a tight budget and this project is a perfect example of that. In the kitchen, dual-tone painted cabinets, new hardware, new counters and backsplash, additional corner base cabinet, a custom hood and open shelving really set the tone when entering the home. In the living room, perhaps the biggest change was the layout. The seating area was rotated 180 degrees to face the fireplace which received a colorful facelift to match the kitchen shelving. The primary bathroom was gutted. The open half wall was replaced with a full wall and pocket door to create a true master suite. Light and bright selections make this small space feel larger. The transformation can only be truly appreciated when you see the before pictures so scroll down to view.
“… I hired Jessica to help with a complete remodel of my house. She was very professional and worked daily with my contractor to ensure the design was executed correctly and handle the unexpected bumps in the road. If it hadn't been for her, I would have been under major stress. She was always on top of things and making sure it was done correctly. My project turned out amazing! It doesn't even resemble what it use to be.” - Sandy C.

The home was perched on a massive expanse of lawn that we "right sized" by composing garden beds in correct proportion to the home.
The Client wanted beauty, opulence, lushness, and sensual delight. Climbing roses waves their blossoms in air, backlight by river water light. Ornamental grasses spray like whitewater from between romantic garden favorites: peonies, daisies, delphinium, catmints.
Each species was selected for its solid performance, be it everblooming blossoms, fragrance, or architectural stature. Repetition, proportion, form and rhythm bring order and ease to the eye, whether something is in flower or not.

Floating staircase picture taken after client move in. Front focal stairway that provides access from a large open expansive downstairs living to the upstairs bedrooms, deck and game room. HSS Structural steel support hidden in walls with solid white oak treads and stainless steel handrails and cable. LED lights were installed in the nosing of the stairs. Bona-Waterborne Traffic Naturale finish used on stairs for natural color, matte finish level and seamless touch-up on repairs. Furnishings, interior selections and artwork by Susan Eddings Perez

The west wall completes the functional needs with a built-in refrigerator and microwave oven combination. A full height pantry with roll-out shelves is around the corner from the refrigerator. To the left of the ovens, is a wall and base cabinet and countertop. A charging stationed was planned for this counter area.
Flooring choices are many. The original kitchen had linoleum and therefore only about 1/8” was available for the new material to sit on top of the sub-floor and still have a level transition to the adjacent dining room and powder room. We removed the original sub-floor and gained ¾”. But a tile floor was not an option because we did not have enough thickness for a concrete bed and the tile. Cork was selected in a light gray and white pattern which compliments the overall white kitchen that the homeowners wanted. The flooring installer prepared for the ½” thick cork by recessing the new ¾” plywood subfloor between the joists at the mathematically correct height. This accomplished having the kitchen, dining room and powder room floors all at the same level without a transition strip, and also provided a very level floor.
