This traditionally inspired home on the ocean at Folly Beach, SC was just a gleam in the eye of the owner when Divine Creations joined the project. Called “The Loggerhead” after the loggerhead turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs once a year, this house is inviting and spacious. Sue Mac Ridgeway worked with the builder from the earliest stages of the home’s construction. The firm served as project manager overseeing all the work from exterior to interior to landscaping. Constructed as an investment property by a doctor from Columbia, SC, the vision for this seven bedroom, six and a half bath house was as a small conference retreat center. All public spaces were designed for large crowds and easy flow. The kitchen was configured for use by several cooks or chefs including two ovens, two dishwashers, a center island gas grill and two granite serving areas. Echoing the dunes just outside, the kitchen’s granite countertops resemble the drifting sand. Divine Creations commissioned backsplash tiles hand cast to mimic baby sea turtles and other ocean creatures. These were interspersed with beautiful Italian tile and hand-painted switch plate covers, created by a local Charleston artist and potter, to match the Italian tile.

A lakeside weekend retreat that is stylish and welcoming. Every creature comfort is provided with plush and inviting fabrics in warm colors, soft rugs and a wood burning fireplace that is central to the room. I employ a juxtaposition of extremes such as lightness and gravity, suppleness and intransigence, to convey feminine sensibilities. Crafted of steel and embellished with flourishes of wire mesh, screening, cut-outs and bits of found objects, the dresses are at once both elegant and imposing. I like the duplicitous nature of steel which can be manipulated to appear feminine and soft while actually maintaining its strength and rigidity—an expression in contrasts and complements.” -Donna McCullough

Inspiration for a rustic patio remodel in Toronto

The cobalt blue AGA range inspired the color scheme for this French country kitchen. The range is flanked by a pair of Antique Tole bins with deep drawers. Original cabinets were custom painted with whimsical barnyard creatures.

This little boys’ bath afforded us the opportunity to embrace playfulness and vibrant pops of colors. Sunshine hued cabinetry, natural brass accents, and turquoise mermaid tail tiles all play nicely with the sea-creature wallpaper and a classic mosaic hex floor.

Designed by UK born, Brooklyn based artist Jon Burgerman, Play Doodles brings to life Jon's famous doodles...where he just grabs a pen, wiggles it over a piece of paper and sees what, or who, pops out. Thinking it would be interesting to see how this could translate into 3D, he grabbed a bunch of colourful Play Doh and tried to make some fun characters without any plan, allowing the medium to dictate the results, which was a whole gaggle of funny little dudes. They are ageless, genderless, raceless and clearly embody the fun Jon had in making them. From a half-eaten cookie and a laid back corn on the cob to many abstract and curious creatures that ooze personality. When Jon and Jon started to talk about a collaboration it seemed like using the realized doodles made the most sense since they added such a colorful 3D aspect to the design. All of the characters were photographed and then built into a repeat resulting in a lively wallpaper that will bring cheer to many spaces. Play Doodles is one of our EZ Papes designs, meaning it's pre-pasted and water-activated for an easy DIY installation and removal!

Design ideas for a modern drought-tolerant and partial sun backyard waterfall in DC Metro for summer.

It was time for a major upgrade from an older kitchen in this home to reflect more closely the customers lifestyle. Creature comforts such as a built in coffee maker, new high output icemaker, beverage fridge, prep sink, built in fridge and dishwasher, etc. all figured into the new design. We started by installing new 24 x 48 porcelain floor tiles, followed by new, Benjamin Moore painted, Canadian Manufactured cabinetry. New quartz countertops and backsplash were then added to elevate the clean, minimalistic look. We also used wood accents to create some additional interest in the new space as well as a new display/ storage area beside the table. The end result is a new level of beautiful!
