Tom Harper This home was a renovation of a traditional weekend log home into a modern full time retirement residence. This home was shy of storage, loaded with lots of wood (floors, walls and ceilings were all wood) and was dated and dull. We completely blew out the kitchen and all bathrooms and totally renovated the basement into a cozy entertainment space. The style ended up being "mountain modern" which was sensitive to the modern home style, but fresh with contemporary creature comforts and details.

This kitchen had been remodeled multiple times throughout the years and was in dire need of a fresh remodel. The home owners now have a time period appropriate style kitchen with modern creature comforts every cook will love.

Creature comforts like cushions, umbrellas, some furnishings and artwork, toys and tools pose the greatest fire hazards in many landscapes. Home design - coastal home design idea in Houston

The nursery/playroom is for the ten Grand-children when they come and visit. The theme of the mural is "creature of the sea". Each fish portrait a Grand-child holding a sign indicating their name and date of birth. The shark was first drawn with teeth but some of the Grand-children were a little scared due to young age. At the right corner you can see how the shark was modified to be more kids friendly.

This jungle themed residence embodies the beautiful animal and plant wildlife that has become a primary draw for Orlando’s residents and travelers. With Disney’s Animal Kingdom only a few miles from the complex, the incorporation of a zebrawood pattern at the entry, a canopy creatures master bedroom mural backdrop, and a royal blue shrub wallpapered guest room effectively highlight the enchanted resort and the magic of nature conclusively. Grounding hues of navy and turquoise serve to connect each of the divided prints into one singular motif, and natural finishes give a final nod to life’s sustaining habitat.

Inspiration for a modern home design remodel in Austin

It was time for a major upgrade from an older kitchen in this home to reflect more closely the customers lifestyle. Creature comforts such as a built in coffee maker, new high output icemaker, beverage fridge, prep sink, built in fridge and dishwasher, etc. all figured into the new design. We started by installing new 24 x 48 porcelain floor tiles, followed by new, Benjamin Moore painted, Canadian Manufactured cabinetry. New quartz countertops and backsplash were then added to elevate the clean, minimalistic look. We also used wood accents to create some additional interest in the new space as well as a new display/ storage area beside the table. The end result is a new level of beautiful!

Home design - modern home design idea in Austin

Designed and built by Terramor Homes in Raleigh, NC. We also incorporated a comfortably sized guest bedroom suite that adjoins the bathroom that was designed to be used for all guests in the basement area. Another important objective in this basement area, is the fact that the door to the flagstone patio outside, then leads you through the back yard and back to the greenway and river behind. This was the main reason for this home site being chosen--for full enjoyment of all that the river and greenway have to offer- from paddle boarding, tubing, swimming, fishing to running and biking on the greenway. It was imperative that a space be created for the return of any of those trips. A tile floored mudroom was created from that entrance to include a sink for quick washing of hands, cabinets for extra supplies that could be needed, hooks for hanging towels and direct access to the bathroom with walk in shower for muddy boots, wet swim suits and any other items or creatures that may find their way back in. The décor was also kept simple and in keeping with the theme. Walls in horizontal planking, an old fashioned wall mounted sink and restoration looking barn style light fixtures both above the sink and on the ceiling complete the look we wanted to achieve.
