A family-friendly Wisconsin lake home designed for connection, comfort, and intentional living—rugged enough for outdoor days, refined enough for relaxed, memorable weekends together.
Soaring beams, warm wood cabinetry, and a massive granite island create a hardworking lake home kitchen made for market hauls, family meals, and weekends together.

Echoing the same modern classic feel, we chose a wood frame bed in a grayish wood tone and paired that with medium brown nightstands and a dresser with antique brass details. A dark wood framed bench with beige upholstery sits at the end of the bed. Table lamps made of stone and with brass details, provided just the right touch of sophistication to the space. Matching that is a unique brass chandelier. A dark framed mirror with brass accents is placed above the dresser to provide visual appeal and to give lightness to the space. Finally, an area rug with classical elements gives added warmth to the space.

This lovely new kitchen incorporates defined work areas to accommodate the multi-tasking activities of a busy family. Four work stations fit and function easily and beautifully in a tidy 300 SF space: (1) cooking, including separate gas and electric cooking surfaces; (2) prep/cleaning, on the island; and (3) food storage, in the cherry wood armoire concealing both refrigerator and pantry. (4) is the area between the food storage and double ovens (around the corner from the formal serving hutch) and is devoted to baking.

The nature influenced wallpaper adds an Art Nouveau style flair to this interior. With the rich jewel-tones creating the feeling of comfort and ease, this hi-lo mix of furnishings is a combination of both new and rare-find consignment pieces. The dark wood slat blinds marry well with this warm style, as well as as well as the beautiful, tufted, green velvet sectional creating an ideal place for entertaining and conversation. The contemporary home is all about elegant metal accents. The entryway flaunts a medium-tone wood floor, which perfectly suits the gray walls and metal front door. The living room echoes the neutral palette with beige walls while the dining room flaunts a statement metal and glass chandelier. The look is complete with a carpeted master bedroom featuring dark wood furniture.

The most notable design element is the exceptional use of reclaimed wood throughout almost every design component. Sourced from not only one, but two different Indiana barns, this hand hewn and rough sawn wood is used in a variety of applications including custom cabinetry with a white glaze finish, dark stained window casing, butcher block island countertop and handsome woodwork on the fireplace mantel, range hood, and ceiling. Underfoot, Oak wood flooring is salvaged from a tobacco barn, giving it its unique tone and rich shine that comes only from the unique process of drying and curing tobacco.
To keep the design from being too monotonous, concrete countertops are selected to outline the perimeter cabinetry, while wire mesh cabinet frontage, aged bronze hardware, primitive light fixtures and playful bar stools liven the space and add a touch of elegance.
