Walk into the kitchen in this Poway / Rancho Bernardo, San Diego home and it's impossible to miss this gorgeous 2,000 bottle, custom wine cellar showpiece. Completed in 2018, the cellar is complete with custom walnut stained poplar wine racking, rolling ladder for out of reach bottles, and much, much more.
Against each window into the kitchen are floor to ceiling frames showcasing label out, metal racking to add a bit of modern flair. Two high reveal display rows circle the entire room, showcasing this homeowner's best bottles and designed to be angled perfectly to ensure the corks stay wet for long term storage.
An island in the middle of the room acts as a great spot to open and decant wines, and integrated into each side are custom pieces of cabinetry and room for side displayed large format bottles. Also integrated into the racking is a a small countertop and glass rack. LED lights flow throughout to highlight key features and make the whole cellar really pop.

The beautifully crafted custom bar was existing. The design dilemma was a lack of accessories on the back bar, a small table and chairs in the lounge area and dark mahogany bar stools. The bar overpowered the sparsely furnished lounge area and made the space feel empty and uninviting. We added the wall mural which brings in elements of nature and creates the illusion of a wine cellar. The high back upholstered banquette beckons guests to take a seat. The hand crafted tavern table and bench are the perfect size for this space. We swapped out the bar stools for a complimentary wood tone and assembled a unique collection of wine decanters, wine boxes and glass bottles for the back bar. The lounge area is now warm and inviting and the perfect compliment to the bar.

Custom Cabinets for Home Bar can be fun as well as a practical feature in your living space. These custom cabinets can be a balance between large celebrations to smaller, more intimate events.
Designing your home bar cabinetry starts with knowing if you want a wet bar or dry bar. A wet bar is equipped with a sink and running water. A dry bar can be used when there is no plumbing for a sink. You should include plenty of storage – as much as your space will allow.
Cabinetry can include a combination of drawers, shelves and pullouts to increase the storage capacity, along with a stemware holder. In addition for space for bottles and drink mixing ingredients, there needs to be a space to keep utensils, glassware and other bar accessories. You can also create a display space to accommodate collections of decanters, etc.
