Eat-in kitchen - cottage u-shaped medium tone wood floor and brown floor eat-in kitchen idea in Seattle with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, wood countertops, white backsplash, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

Built for family gatherings and entertaining, this 3038 square foot home is highlighted by its open inviting kitchen with massive granite island. The adjoining sunroom and great rooms’ sliding doors lead to a lanai-like screened porch with stamped concrete flooring and skylights. Two main level master bedrooms share a unique master bath. Downstairs, two additional en-suite bedrooms and large hobby room provide plenty of space for family and friends. Energy efficient vinyl windows as well as vinyl exterior shakes and siding provide ease of maintenance. Deceptively spacious, the home provides the comfort and convenience the homeowners desired.

A Cheminee Phillipe fireplace orders the space around it & provides a warming focus. Carefully drawn & built brickwork adds thermal mass to the insulated slab, which also has hydronic heating & windows oriented to provide passive thermal gain. The tiles have proven durable & deceptive - some people refuse to believe its not really timber! Planning was organised to reflect the owners former home in the hope that it would minimise disruption arising from the change of location.

This expanded view of the courtyard in the last picture shows how the whole design comes together. The wildflower theme carries over to the water feature. The water feature itself is reminiscent of nature, almost appearing as a rock balancing on top of a boulder. While the primary plant colors are yellow and green, we broke this up slightly by planting low growing purple flowering plants. This garden landscape design demonstrates how much planning goes into areas that appear deceptively simple.

The space for the master bathroom is deceptively small. The glass enclosure opposite of the shower is a toilet closet for full privacy while making the space feel larger with the addition of the frosted glass. A floating vanity also visually tricks the eye into thinking the space is larger by keeping the flooring visible
all the way under the vanity.

The new owners of this 19th century South End wanted a contemporary renovation that respected the historic character of the old house, and could serve the needs of a family of five. The ground level was completely opened, removing both structural and non structural walls, and opening up the rear façade with a steel and glass window and door to a balcony. The stair to the basement was opened, the mudroom expanded, and a half bath added. The new kitchen is deceptively large; hidden sliding panels conceal storage on either side of the range and the full wall behind the dining table. The formal parlor on the second floor was restored, while the Master suite on the third floor was radically reconfigured to expand the bathroom and closet, and add a new Laundry and Bathroom. On the top floor, a jack and jill bath was converted to two en-suite baths – overall, the project added 2-1/2 baths and one bedroom to the house. CTA was also largely responsible for the furnishings, assisting the owner with lighting, carpets and some furniture.

PureScape 748G-Glossy Compact Double-ended Two Person Freestanding Stone Bathtub. As smooth and indulgent as freshly churned cream, the Purescape 748G-Glossy freestanding bathtub has an air of purity about it and offers and ode to bright, fresh mornings. The lightweight, high-gloss Ecomarmor™ iteration of our most popular bathtub is deceptively durable, features delicate-seeming thin walls that retain heat and unlike any other cast stone bathtub, features integrated waste-overflow. Available in white or optionally, in practically every available RAL colour, including natural granite shades.

In order to improve the flow for entertaining family/grandchildren, the new design includes a long narrow island. The beautiful deception is that the island is only 21” deep, yet still has a little room for grandchildren to sit on the stools for snacks.
Cabinetry was designed with a 2piece tall molding package to allow the trim to tie into the main room crown molding. This also allowed to tie wainscot style panels above the cased opening to the living room and the sunroom – a beautiful custom feature to help the room feel less choppy by these openings and help the eye stay focused on the grand picture of warm cherry inset cabinetry with quaint barrel hinges and beaded face frames.
The refrigerator was placed closer to the higher activity/workstations and built-in with cabinet fronts to minimize the appearance. In turn, the double ovens were moved outside of this high-traffic area with an adequate landing space and tray storage above. This allowed for more ample counters around the range during cooking.

The street side view of this custom Shrock Premier cottage is pleasantly deceptive. Upon entering the spacious two story foyer, you immediately notice the fresh, open concept, airy high ceilings, and magnetic lake views which are framed across the back expanse of this lovely home. The custom trim details, paint color, furnishings, and soft textures are refreshing and crisp. This charmer is perfect for just two, with a main level master suite adjoined to a private sitting area and the home is also an ideal destination for family gatherings and festivities with friends. There is not only a bright, beautiful well- appointed kitchen on the main level, but there is also a full kitchen in the basement walk-out level as well. Friends and family will stay in comfort with 4 extra bedrooms, and 4 additional baths. Outside you’ll find a lake view upper deck and a lower walk out patio leading to a cozy fire pit. This serene beach inspired home also features a pool and private dock. The total experience of this Shrock Premier haven is one which brings harmony to the soul. This custom home provides a peaceful place for relaxing, enjoying friends and family, and celebrating the blessings of life. Fred Hansen Photography

This large living room is deceptive as the very large scale furniture makes it appear smaller than actually is. The existing large sofa is 12 ft wide. The client bought the existing furniture with the home, and they were all custom built. But she had no idea how to arrange the room and how to update the existing grey and mauve color scheme from the early 1980's. We suggested to keep the grey, but add in green and aqua based on our discussions of what colors she liked. We arranged the space into two separate seating areas and helped her select new art and accessories. We suggested she reinvent the french side chair in a blue and green color scheme with a greek key accent. And we helped our client select new fabric for the vintage acrylic chairs. The new look feels fresh and eclectic and fun. We also guided the client to the right upholsterer and seamstress and framing shop. Our client was thrilled.
