I regret hiring this designer. I paid $6,000 up front in January 2026 for what I believed would be a professional, construction-ready bathroom design package that would allow me to obtain competitive bids from contractors. Although some renderings and concepts were produced, the project extended for months without delivery of a fully coordinated bid-ready package. Critical specifications, product details, and construction information necessary for accurate contractor pricing remained incomplete. The most troubling part of the experience was learning late in the process that construction documents would not be released unless I entered into a materials purchasing arrangement through the designer. This was not my understanding when I agreed to the project. The engagement was presented as giving me the option to purchase through the designer — not as a condition for receiving complete construction documentation. Without detailed specifications, transparent unit-level pricing, and construction-ready plans, I was effectively prevented from competitively bidding the remodel with independent contractors. There were some creative ideas I appreciated, but the overall experience resulted in substantial delay and ultimately prevented me from completing the competitive contractor bidding process that was the primary reason for hiring a designer and investing $6,000 in the project. My understanding throughout the engagement was that the materials agreement would serve as a summary of the products and selections reviewed during the design process, with the option — not the obligation — to purchase through the designer. I would not have entered into the agreement had I understood that release of construction documents would later be conditioned on purchasing materials through the designer rather than simply agreeing on the final selections. I would strongly encourage homeowners to ask very direct questions — in writing — regarding ownership of plans, release conditions for construction documents, purchasing requirements, pricing transparency, and exactly what deliverables are included before paying substantial upfront design fees.

Designs by BSB was outstanding and worth every penny. BeckySue prepared a design and construction plan for a master bath full renovation. BeckySue wasted not one minute of my time — she knew every question to ask and every item to be addressed. She focused on maximizing value and quality instead of generating more work or upselling any feature. She narrowed choices based upon my preferences and made excellent recommendations. BeckySue made a digital slideshow of the design so I could visualize each element. She handled ordering and delivery of all the materials, and scheduled vendors (all vetted professionals she knows well), alerting me at every step. The project exceeded all my expectations and added significant value to my home.

Designs by BSB Review After about 8 years or procrastination I decided it was time too redo my kitchen. It was built in 1986 and I waited until the early 2020s. I didn't know who to bring in to do the job. This meant a new ceiling, lighting, appliances, cabinets, flooring, counter tops and a plethora of other things. Once I contacted her through the Houzz web site she responded and asked me a few basic questions about the project and my budget. After some long thought on the project I decided to ask BSB to take on the job. First she came out and reviewed the project and took many measurements to insure everything would fit and there was enough room to move all items around/through the kitchen as needed. Before that I did what I call a 'brain dump' on paper and listed all of the things I could think of that I wanted. I talked about lighting, appliances, cabinets, and all of that. I recommend that anyone reading this and planning on a large project do this for both themselves and for the designer they choose. This was an immense help to me as it let me voice my wants/needs/desires to the designer (in this case BSB) so she could look through them and get my input as to my wants. One thing this eliminated is spending a lot of time verbalizing my need. It was on paper and fully checked over by me. Becky took the information I put on paper and her measurements etc. to put together a design that would work. Both of us are cooks so the communication between us was simplified (I think) because we spoke the same language. She worked on her design and I went to her office a couple of time to see what she had put togete and what input I needed to give her. What I really appreciated about BSB is she did not dictate or force anything on me. She present multiple options for cabinets, counter tops, etc. and on several occasions we went shopping together to view floor tile options, back splash tiles, and other things. Becky will give you options for you to choose from. She wants, and asks for your input. She lays out the basic design and I chose the options with which to outfit my remodeling job. It was not an easy task, the kitchen was totally stripped down from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. There were a lot of parameters to consider and I found that Designs by BSB did a stellar job In this area. She was also able to locate a GC that would be able to do all of the work, tear down thru rebuild at a reasonable price. BeckySue is a true design professional. I hired her because I really needed help re-designing my kitchen in our new home. I could not see past the old, dysfunctional layout and outdated cabinets. BeckySue made several visits and presented a fantastic new layout - she thought of every detail! She planned our kitchen perfectly in design and layout - where to house the knives, cutlery, dishes, storage containers, etc. It all makes perfect sense in how we use our kitchen on a daily basis. In addition, she assisted with the selection of appliances (she is a pro at this!) and I am happily enjoying my steam oven which I would have never purchased without her. We had an unfinished basement and wanted to create a fun hangout for our boys, as well as a functional area for food serving without the expense of a full kitchen. We had a different design in our head but after our consultation we realize her ideas would make everything flow better. We are so glad we took all her advice because our basement came out beautiful! She brought it all together, and I didn't have the headache of dealing with several contractors. One factor to consider when working with a designer....you may be given choice of color/style with a big named home improvement store, or given swatches by a contractor...but BeckySue has so many contacts and avenues that we never were told, "sorry, that's discontinued." She worked hard and found everything we wanted. She's a mother of two kids as well, and she really understood our need to keep costs down. I think we all have had our share of bad experiences with contractors, but this project was exciting to see quick progress and a pleasure from beginning to end.

Our home was built in 1979. Although we had updated some, there were some definite bottleneck areas and outdated styles. Hiring Designs by BSB was the best choice we've ever made in any of our zillion home projects. She has the BEST EYE for putting things together. Her experience and expertise were incredible! Having lived in our home for 23 years we decided it was time to remodel our oak 1980’s kitchen. Our parameters were no walls were to be moved but everything else could go. We met with 3 companies, reviewed their proposals and chose none of them. Not one provided a different footprint. After a year I happened upon BeckySue’s photos on Houzz and saw that she was local. Since I had never worked with a designer before I hesitantly emailed her. To my surprise I received an immediate response and scheduled an appointment. My husband and I were so impressed and delighted with our appointment. Within 45 minutes she came up with a completely different footprint which included a large island. We hired her right then. BeckySue handled this project with professionalism, creativity, diplomacy, smiles, respect, and a gentle guiding hand. She respected our budget, handled all issues that arose, was easy to work with, and did all she could to stick to timelines. The construction company she brought in to work with us was superb. I came across Designs by BSB when I was searching online for someone to help with my kitchen/family room renovation. I had spoken to several other companies and was getting very frustrated, as they either were not willing to work within our budget, or would only work with custom cabinetry. Becky Sue was a lifesaver! She was extremely personable and professional, and was very mindful or our budget. We had no idea how to start or manage such a project! Becky Sue came in like the pro that she is, waved her magic wand, and came up with a functional and beautiful plan that would work well for our family. When I realized I was in over my head redoing my kitchen, I searched Houzz for a highly rated Kitchen Designer to help. Luckily I found Becky Sue. I had already picked out my appliances but other than that, I didn't have a clue. Becky came over and we discussed my budget and what I liked and didn't like. She came back with ideas and drawings and we were off! She was a great help with finding beautiful cabinets that met my budget and designing the "look". I wanted to keep the same footprint of the kitchen, and Becky had great ideas on how to make it new and different! We took out the desk part of the counter and now I have a large pantry and a longer counter top! Who doesn't need more storage and counter space? For the counter top I wanted granite with a leather finish which is difficult to find. Becky talked to her granite people and found me a beautiful piece in Arctic White that was large enough for my counters. She also had the fantastic idea to lower the peninsula part of the cabinets/counter to the right height for kneading bread and rolling dough. (A few inches lower than counter height) And she suggested marble for the top which is perfect for a baker! Finally she took dead space where the counter turns and added a cabinet on the back side where I now store liquor and bar tools. They used to sit on the counter and now that space is freed up! That was genius, I never would have thought about it. I've had my new kitchen for about 9 months now and I love it.

I found designs by BSB on houzz. I really appreciated how functional her designs looked. Becky came to my house and took photos and measurements. Very shortly had the first of many plans. Ready for my review. She worked hard to keep me within my budget. We decided I could afford custom. With that she was able to create a very functional beautiful kitchen. The plan changed several times but her idea of the wood waterfall bar was the show stopper. The choice of black walnut made it a stand out kitchen and her source for the wood was outstanding. I never though the finish would be so easy to maintain. Microfiber cloth and water and any and all spills and food residue wipes right up and wood looks like new again. I highly recommend her design expertise and her sources for products. Thank you for hanging in there when I put the project on hold and finally went through with it. I LOVE MY NEW KITCHEN.

I had a new house with a kitchen family room design that just didn't work. I needed Beckys help but didn't exactly know the direction I needed to head in. I was in much need of an up to date kitchen. I had originally worked with Home Depot Expo but dropped them when we couldn't come to terms with our contract. I found Designs by BSB by word of mouth. I think I was given her name by a appliance dealer. Don't quote me there! Becky Sue is very easy to work with. She listened to what I wanted and implemented them with her professional guidance. She is highly organized and movtivated to get the job done according to pland. She worked within my budget, provided contractors that were upstanding in their own right and had a great working relationship with everyone. We basically redesigned my kitchen. We moved things around to make it a more workable kitchen. - Shortened my penisula. - moved my sink - moved my stove top - took my pantry that was not a very good one and put my double ovens and a small cabinet in for a better use of that space. - moved my refridgerator. These are some of the things we did with my kitchen. It still looks great! I did have had to replace my dishwasher (it was 5 years old) but it was not due to anything that Becky Sue did. In fact, she was helpful in obtaining my replacement. It broke due to a lousy design of the dishwasher itself. Get a dishwasher that has a metal pulley system and not nylon. I would highly recommend Designs by BSB for your next kitchen or bath. I plan on using them for when I redo my bathroom(s).
