Chances are your tree has been visited by seasonal bugs. Typically, Eastern tent caterpillars or fall webworms are the cause of web covered trees. When they visit, they spin nets that resemble spider webs. Five Star Tree Services has put together a quick guide on everything you need to know about web-making caterpillars and how to deal with them. Eastern Tent Caterpillars vs. Fall Webworms Both of these pests look similar but there are some differences that set them apart. Eastern tent caterpillars are also called spring webworms. This is mainly because they are often found feeding during the spring seasons, while fall webworms as the name suggest, tend to appear in the autumn months. The webs of the two pests look different from each other. The eastern tent caterpillar webs have a thick texture that looks like cotton, while the fall webworms have webs that more resemble tulle. Both also prefer to reside in different parts of the tree. Eastern tent caterpillars love to hang out where branches connect, called tree pockets. Fall webworms, on the other hand, like to hang out on the tips of branches. Each has a different set of preferred tree species for their meals. They look gross and will eat a large portion of your leaves, but there are no harmful side effects otherwise. With that out of the way, getting rid of the webs is pretty simple. You can just remove them by hand and toss them into a bucket of detergent water to prevent sticking. You can also you the end of a stick or broom if you would prefer to avoid touching the sticky webs. For higher branches, we suggest calling a local arborist for assistance to prevent accidental falls. How to Prevent Webworms & Tent Caterpillar Infestations If you don’t want to deal with these webs at all, you can prevent an infestation in advance. In the winter, check your trees for tent caterpillar eggs. They are usually reddish in colour and a bit shiny. They can be found along the tree branches and scraped off. That's what happened each & every time one of our recent Baton Rouge clients, Jan, tried to cook a meal in her home. Searching For A Pantry Solution Jan and her family moved into their new home in 2017 despite not having a pantry. Knowing they needed one desperately, Jan wondered if a pantry could fit in their vast laundry room. Instead of trying the DIY route, Jan wanted professional help to get it done right. Jan saw an Inspired Closets sign on the lawn of a home in her neighborhood. She decided to visit their showroom to meet with our expert designer, Felicity. After Jan shared her vision of what they wanted in a pantry, Felicity got to work! She created a custom design accomplishing everything Jan wanted. For this small kitchen remodeling project, the homeowner was looking to simply update the look of their old cabinets. Since the majority of the cabinet boxes were still in good shape, cabinet refacing was the ideal solution for them. They decided to go with a Stratus foil shaker bevel door. Next, we installed a new Calacatta Luchia quartz countertop and a Raku silver 3” x 12” backsplash. Some simple changes can make a huge difference in the look of any kitchen.

There were a few difficulties in making this kitchen any better than how it was. There was a separate staircase that had access to the second floor which was located in the kitchen. This left just enough room to push the dining room to one side. Then, there was the porch. A really nice panoramic view of the back, but was somehow under-used by the family during the summer months. Then, it was the size of the kitchen. It simply was way too small for a growing family, and while it had a peninsular in place, the flow just didn’t work. I remember watching them one day demonstrating how awkward it was using the kitchen. We got it! We had our marching orders to go and figure out how to make this kitchen work for this family. Everything in the room was fair play. The design was done to make the kitchen very open. For a few ideas, we incorporated the porch in the kitchen by using the nana wall idea but it ended up being too cost prohibitive to do so. We then decided to do a permanent fix by using a commercial glass wall application. Once we figured that out, we moved back inside and removed the staircase. This gave us two added benefits. One allowed us to really reconfigure the kitchen and the other opened up the second floor for a huge built in closet system. We relocated the windows, added a fire place with a built In TV above. From there, it was onto the kitchen itself which contained a huge Island with seating, large kitchen sink and built in appliances which was set up in a way to take advantage of the new layout. We re-positioned the kitchen facing the beautiful views outside rather than looking towards a wall. Now, when you enter the house up the entry stairs, the kitchen now draws you into the magnificent new open space. This is now setup for entertaining, relaxation, hanging out and most of all, preparing meals in a room where you only have to leave if you want to. This one was all about the design. Design was what made this space. Setting this space up for success was crucial, and this kitchen is a great example of how design can cover a multitude of sins in Kitchen designs. … Just close your eyes for a second and imagine waking up one winter morning and having a cup of coffee and watching the snow fall through those huge windows, leaning up against those 3D feature walls while watching the kids sitting around the table enjoying those warm radiant heated floors in this spacious kitchen…..

This Primary bathroom needed an update to be a forever space, with clean lines, and a timeless look. Now my clients can simply walk into the shower space, for easy access, easy maintenance, and plenty of room. An American Standard step in tub is opposite the shower, which was on their wish list. The outcome is a lovely, relaxing space that they will enjoy for years to come. We decided to mix brushed gold finishes with matte black fixtures. The geometric Herringbone and Hex porcelain tile selections add interest to the overall design.

This client wanted to update the style of her very luxurious and traditional living entry. Hence, we decided to make it sparkle. The Antoinette Chandelier features a modern metal drum with a lattice pattern made, even more, captivating with elegant hanging crystal beads and teardrops accents. The light it casts in a room is simply mesmerizing. It just makes this grandiose entry spectacular!

We were contacted by a homeowner in his mid-80s who decided it was time to retire his ladder. He was interested in a micro mesh gutter guard that would eliminate the need for ongoing maintenance. He already had 6-inch gutters, so we simply gave his gutters a tune-up by cleaning, resealing and resetting them so they would drain properly towards the downspouts. Our client was interested in eye-catching features so we decided to add gold toned fixtures, hardware and round mirrors complemented with slate colored floor tile and light grey painted walls. When the Grossman’s located in Miami area decided it was time to transform their tired, old pool into the tranquil retreat they’ve always wanted, Van Kirk & Sons was there every step of the transformation process. At the end of a long day the family can enjoy unwinding in their spa, or simply listening to the serene sounds of the cleanly designed, floating water fountain. This stunning water feature also doubles as a unique, refreshing waterbed for sprawling out on in the sun. On the weekends, the Grossmans can finally entertain their friends by the pool, and by the looks of it, they’ll never want to leave.

We often get asked whether it is suitable to install a freestanding bathtub in an alcove. The answer – absolutely! Freestanding bathtubs have been around for nearly 150 years, and they are still part of every day design. Available in endless shapes, colors and sizes. Our customer Jenny was renovating her bathroom and Andria had a stunning vision. Jenny wanted a shower as well as being able to enjoy soaking in a bathtub.
