ATIID collaborated with these homeowners to curate new furnishings throughout the home while their down-to-the studs, raise-the-roof renovation, designed by Chambers Design, was underway. Pattern and color were everything to the owners, and classic “Americana” colors with a modern twist appear in the formal dining room, great room with gorgeous new screen porch, and the primary bedroom. Custom bedding that marries not-so-traditional checks and florals invites guests into each sumptuously layered bed. Vintage and contemporary area rugs in wool and jute provide color and warmth, grounding each space. Bold wallpapers were introduced in the powder and guest bathrooms, and custom draperies layered with natural fiber roman shades ala Cindy’s Window Fashions inspire the palettes and draw the eye out to the natural beauty beyond. Luxury abounds in each bathroom with gleaming chrome fixtures and classic finishes. A magnetic shade of blue paint envelops the gourmet kitchen and a buttery yellow creates a happy basement laundry room. No detail was overlooked in this stately home - down to the mudroom’s delightful dutch door and hard-wearing brick floor.

Master Bedroom, Venetian Plastered Ceiling in "Papyrus" texture

Interior Designer, Beth Whitlinger, www.bwid.com
When the Interior Designer described the wall covering as being a silver leafed pattern along with oodles of sumptuous natural fiber fabrics on the bedding, chairs, and window treatments, this plaster finish came to mind as being the perfect invention of richness and texture to be in relationship with the rhythm of natural linens and silks in this significant House of Design space. The color was chosen to coordinate with the natural stone of the fireplace, the glint and gleam of the burnished cross-hatched Venetian Plaster was meant to support the bling Beth brought into this room through the chandelier and the headboard wall and other more subtle details.
This ceiling finish, so I was told by one of the docents, was one of the top three talked about topics of this magnificent space. I was glad to hear, as this was a finish designed and mixed up in my artist's workshop with the confidence it would do the trick. The overall design was impeccable as delivered by the very talented Beth Whitlinger.
I sincerely hope to perform this finish again and again. It is quite remarkably unique as well as a beautiful backdrop to rich decor.

This kitchen was completely transformed into a light and bright inviting entertaining space! The original ceiling beams were kept intact, but every finish was updated. Soaring 12' ceilings were the perfect backdrop for the white stacked glass upper display cabinets. The island was turned and elongated and topped with a stunning Cambria Brittannica quartz! The backsplash is made of rippled glass and gleams with under cabinet lighting. Highlight of polished nickel on the pendants and hardware lend elegance to the space. The appliance package is hard working as well as beautiful.

This remodel brings a bright, sweet feel to this Minneapolis home with blush pink wainscoting and ceiling wallpaper, white gem quartzite countertop, a butcher block island, and brass hardware finishes. Dreamy colorful accents in the kitchen, living room, and powder room give each space a distinct feel in a cohesive theme.

Commissioned to shed new light on a dark and dated master bath suite, we banished the cultured marble, raised the ceiling, and installed bright clerestory windows. We crowned custom bamboo cabinets with poured concrete counters, extended them to the Jacuzzi tub surrounds, and finished the space with gleaming nickel hardware, a recycled glass shower enclosure, and tumbled marble floors with radiant heating, for year-round warmth.
Our clients were so pleased with the results they asked us to continue the same sense of elegance and serenity we had started in the master bath and extend it towards a full remodel of their family room and kitchen. We installed new hardwood floors to emphasize the comfortable, quiet spaciousness of a newly arranged layout. Quartzite counters, quarter-sawn white oak cabinetry, and a recycled glass tile backsplash were combined to produce a sophisticated kitchen, gleaming surfaces and clean lines, while rough split-faced travertine brick enriched an updated fireplace, bookended by built-in shelves and cabinetry, to make a strong, practical center in the family room.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
SoFi is home to one of our latest projects: Portofino. The sought-after South Beach location, also known as South of Fifth, is a fantastic blend of Art Deco buildings, contemporary residential architecture, and gleaming high rises.
TASK:
Our clients wanted a sophisticated design and tasked us with completely gutting and transforming their 2700 square foot space.
SCOPE:
Our team remodeled the kitchen, dining room, living room, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. We installed wood floors in the bedrooms and white marble in the common areas. The clients were after a sophisticated space, so we used a clean color palette with accents of oak and lots of wood wall paneling. Britto Charette also designed custom headboards, feature walls, and unique storage solutions that will help our clients really maximize the use of their space.
CHALLENGE:
Our team loves a challenge and we found a fun one in Portofino: our clients are tall but the ceilings are short. What to do? With the help of our fantastic construction specialists, we were able to raise the ceilings, providing the perfect solution for our clients.

Sleek lines are the theme that is played throughout the design of this home but warmth and texture are also present in the wood floors and custom cabinetry that are part of this kitchen. Gleaming, professional grade appliances include gas range, separate Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer and two individual dishwasher drawers provide all the tools needed for the creation of a great meal.

Home office from condo renovation in Upper West Side, Manhattan.
ABOUT THE RENOVATION
Very often, getting what you want is simply about timing. After years of owning her Upper West Side co-op in Lincoln Square and making various small renovations along the way, our client decided to go all-out and advance with her dream renovation after being eased into the significant decision by our full-service design-build approach, extensive pre-planning process, out of the box design strategy, and thorough estimate. The results of this stunning renovation speak for themselves.
SPACIOUS CENTERPIECE KITCHEN
With many condos in Manhattan, the kitchen is the home’s focal point. In this case, the client’s goal was to reinvigorate this critical space via a classic interior design style with modern and contemporary touches. Beyond introducing updated appliances and pendant lighting, we added immaculate natural stone countertops and backsplash, along with opaque Tribeca shaker cabinets throughout the space.
TWO BATHROOMS, TWICE AS NICE
When the opportunity to add a bathroom to your Manhattan condo presents itself, you take advantage. Part of our renovation of this USW condo included an additional bathroom, in addition to a total overhaul of the ensuite bathroom. For the main bath, we turned the dreary old space into a soft and elegant sanctuary that’s warming as the sunlight beaming in, thanks to the sleek nickel-finish fixtures and custom marble tile. In the newly-created guest bathroom, we delivered an upscale, timeless design incorporating gleaming subway tiles, bold brass fixtures, and exquisite deco hexagon flooring.
PERMA-WFH OFFICE WITH CUSTOM MURPHY BED & STORAGE
After being thrust into a permanent work from home schedule due to the pandemic, our client decided to incorporate more of a formal home office space into her guest bedroom - a space where she also required additional storage. The problem was she didn't want to give up the practicality of a spare bedroom. To maintain the added bedroom availability and also provide a proper office space, we created a custom Murphy bed and desk area with custom millwork for enhanced organization with a perfectly narrow personal desk area nestled to the left of the large built-in.

- We Incorporated Various Square/hexagon Features Throughout The Space, Per Client Preference
- Laundry Relocation For Added Space And Preference
