Set on ten acres abutting protected conservation land, the zoning for this site allowed for a creative multi-unit residential project. The design concept created a sustainable modern farm community of three distinct structures. A sense of individuality is established between the buildings, while a comprehensive site design references historic farms with a home-like, residential scale.
An existing structure was renovated to house three condo units, featuring sliding barn doors and floor-to-ceiling storefront glass in the great room, with 25’ ceilings. Across a circular cobblestone drive, a new house and barn structure houses two condo units. Connecting both units, a garage references a carriage house and barn with small square windows above and large bays at ground level to mimic barn bays. There is no parking lot for the site – instead garages and a few individual parking spaces preserve the scale of a natural farm property. Patios and yards in the rear of each unit offer private access to the lush natural surroundings and space for entertaining.

Wellborn + Wright has teamed up with Richmond native Cobblestone Development Group again for this incredible renovation. What was originally a constricting, one story brick ranch house from the mid 20th century is now a bright, soaring, three story home with a much more open and inviting floor plan. Be sure to flip through the slideshow above to the last 3 pictures which show the “before and after” versions of the kitchen and entryway.
Wellborn + Wright was happy to provide the smooth surface box beams that ran along the ceiling and “sectioned off” the individual living spaces on the first floor – kitchen, living room, dining room – without actually dividing the space itself. A mantle (not shown) and kitchen island counter top made from reclaimed white oak can be found in the kitchen and living room respectively. It should be noted that, while W+ didn’t provide the flooring for this project, what you see here is an exact match to our South Hampton oak flooring – so if you like what you see on the floors just as much as the ceiling, we can definitely help you there!

Learn all about Blairsville, Ga. here!
Blairsville, the county seat of Union County, was incorporated on December 26,1835 and remains the sole incorporated community in the county. At the heart of Downtown Blairsville is the Historic Union County Courthouse, constructed in 1899, and now home to everything from the Union County Historical Society and Friday Night Concerts to a military museum and dollhouse collection. Nearby is the Blairsville City Hall (formerly the "old" jail built in 1934). Both historical buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.
Blairsville's Town Square is frequently the venue for annual events such as the Downtown Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, the Memorial Day Parade, the Green Bean Festival, the Bluegrass Festival, the Sorghum Parade, Hometown Halloween on the Square, and the Christmas Parade. Everyone is invited to these family orientated celebrations!
Just south of the Square, the Historical Society develops and maintains the Mountain Life Museum. It is home to the 1906 Grapel Mock House, the 1861 Payne Cabin, and annual events such as the Mountain Market and Heritage Festival. Look for live animals, heritage demonstrations, and hands-on activities such as panning for gold.
There are many exciting destinations in and around Blairsville. Meeks Park, Butternut Creek Golf Course, Lake Nottely, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail are a few of the most well-known attractions.
Blairsville is the place to be for outdoor fun. Nearly two-thirds of Union County is in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It includes Georgia's highest point, Brasstown Bald (with a visitors' center at the summit), Vogel State Park (the oldest and most popular state park in Georgia), and the Richard Russell Scenic Byway.
In 2011, Blairsville was designated as an official Appalachian Trail Community. This designation recognizes Blairsville for its part in promoting awareness of the Appalachian Trail as an important national and local resource.
In 2007 Blairsville was recognized as a Georgia Better Hometown, largely due to the community volunteer efforts of the Downtown Development Authority of Blairsville. Blairsville has many dedicated individuals and organizations that work together to make the city a great place to live (and to visit). Welcome to Blairsville, Georgia!

Rooftopia developed and built a truly one of a kind rooftop paradise on two roof levels at this Michigan Ave residence. Our inspiration came from the gorgeous historical architecture of the building. Our design and development process began about a year before the project was permitted and could begin construction. Our installation teams mobilized over 100 individual pieces of steel & ipe pergola by hand through a small elevator and stair access for assembly and fabrication onsite. We integrated a unique steel screen pattern into the design surrounding a loud utility area and added a highly regarded product called Acoustiblok to achieve significant noise reduction. The custom 18 foot bar ledge has 360° views of the city skyline and lake Michigan. The luxury outdoor kitchen maximizes the options with a built in grill, dishwasher, ice maker, refrigerator and sink. The day bed is a soft oasis in the sea of buildings. Large planters emphasize the grand entrance, flanking new limestone steps and handrails, and soften the cityscape with a mix of lush perennials and annuals. A small green roof space adds to the overall aesthetic and attracts pollinators to assist with the client's veggie garden. Truly a dream for relaxing, outdoor dining and entertaining!

This development, nicknamed "Trivaca", is situated on a unique triangular shaped property within the historic Lavaca neighborhood of San Antonio. It consists of four, two-story modern townhouses, designed by four individual architects that work within the Southtown neighborhood. The designs, although modern, make use of a variety of materials found throughout the area such as steel, wood, and stucco, while also maintaining a unique individual look across all four properties. Fisher Heck's design for this home is a contemporary reflection of many of the surrounding historic homes, specifically with regards to materiality and building proportion. The main level consists of the main living areas as well as a home office/guest bedroom with full bath. The living spaces all open out to a lush, private xeriscaped courtyard and modular driveway. The two upstairs bedrooms both face north with perfect views of Tower of Americas and downtown fireworks.

The Hewitt's Gate Development is setting Bradley Homes apart from other builders in Barrie. This transitional architecture style blends the modern elements of new with the welcoming style of the traditional style home. Offering a range of bungalows, bungalofts and two storey homes this development has lots to offer in a prime location near the GO Station. The Plumrose at Inglenook’s Pocket Neighborhoods is a three- or four-bedroom Cottage-style Home that possesses a feeling of spaciousness driven by beautiful vaulted ceilings, numerous big windows, and smart, flexible design.
A key element of cottage-style living is individuality. Each home is unique, inside and out. Focused on expanding the homeowner’s choices, the Plumrose takes individuality all the way to the number and design of the rooms. The second “bedroom” upstairs offers one such opportunity to customize the home to fit life’s needs. Make it a spacious, quiet master retreat and master bath, or a bright and cheery child’s bedroom and playroom, or a guest bedroom and office – the possibilities are endless and the decision is yours.
The customization in the Plumrose continues in the creative and purposeful storage options. Each room and stairway landing provides an opportunity for a built-in bookshelf, reading nook, or trellis. All of these built-ins can serve as thoughtful places to showcase photos, treasured travel souvineers, books, and more! After all, a good storage option should be both decorative and useful.
Bringing the home’s utility outdoors, the front porch and private bedroom patio serve as extensions of the main living space. The front porch provides a private yet public space to enjoy the community greens and neighbors. The private patio is a great spot to read the newspaper over a morning cup of coffee. These spaces balance the personal and social aspects of cottage living, bringing community without sacrificing privacy.

A fresh interpretation of the western farmhouse, The Sycamore, with its high pitch rooflines, custom interior trusses, and reclaimed hardwood floors offers irresistible modern warmth.
When merging the past indigenous citrus farms with today’s modern aesthetic, the result is a celebration of the Western Farmhouse. The goal was to craft a community canvas where homes exist as a supporting cast to an overall community composition. The extreme continuity in form, materials, and function allows the residents and their lives to be the focus rather than architecture. The unified architectural canvas catalyzes a sense of community rather than the singular aesthetic expression of 16 individual homes. This sense of community is the basis for the culture of The Sycamore.
The western farmhouse revival style embodied at The Sycamore features elegant, gabled structures, open living spaces, porches, and balconies. Utilizing the ideas, methods, and materials of today, we have created a modern twist on an American tradition. While the farmhouse essence is nostalgic, the cool, modern vibe brings a balance of beauty and efficiency. The modern aura of the architecture offers calm, restoration, and revitalization.
Located at 37th Street and Campbell in the western portion of the popular Arcadia residential neighborhood in Central Phoenix, the Sycamore is surrounded by some of Central Phoenix’s finest amenities, including walkable access to premier eateries such as La Grande Orange, Postino, North, and Chelsea’s Kitchen.
