This Fiji model was spruced up with mosaic tile and custom bench seating along the edges of the pool - installed by Aquatic Pools in 2009.

The hard maple breadboard from CuttingBoards.com, the countertop made from clear fir salvaged from our old kitchen floor. The drawer pulls are 100-year-old painted bin pulls we found on Ebay. The new oak floor matches the living room and dining room, bright white 3"x6" Daltile subway tile backsplash with Mapei "iron" grout, the brass "bow" style pulls from Van Dyke Restorers and the original brass ornamental butt hinges from the kitchen's east wall of cabinets. The cabinets above the fir counter were salvaged from above the fridge on the north wall of the original kitchen and their depth reduced from 20" to 15". The shelf beneath them is an ad lib to break up the space between the countertop and the bottom of the cabinets. Barely visible in this photo is a 20 amp combination LED light/power strip that runs the full length of the counter underneath the shelf. The tall cabinets on the far end of the pantry are for storing brooms, etc. The hinges on those cabinets are replica Half Surface hinges from House of Antique Hardware similar to the original cabinet hinges. The adjustable overhead light is a hold-over from when the pantry was used as a breakfast nook, a common feature of bungalows. The "Autumn Leaves" pattern of Pilkington obscure glass for the transom was something we had seen in our hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland and was obtained from GlassGurus.com. The pocket door was salvaged from the pantry and reinstalled to provide privacy for the living areas of the home. The pulls are Eastlake sash pulls we found on Ebay. The 20" deep cabinet above the fridge is new, modeled after existing cabinets. The fridge is a Samsung 18 cubic foot counter depth model with French doors and 6 cubic foot bottom freezer that tripled the capacity of our former apartment-sized fridge. The key to the entire remodel was finding a place to put the fridge. We ended up stealing this spot by sacrificing a hall closet. With the popularity of of stainless steel appliances, it was a challenge to find a white, French door, counter-depth, bottom-freezer refrigerator. We had our eyes on the Big Chill Classic fridge, but budget overruns put it on hold. The brick exterior wall of the pantry and chimney has been revealed for texture and color interest.

Satterberg Desonier Dumo Interior Design, Inc.The goal for the owners of this Blue Ridge home was to remodel their traditional Blue Ridge home to open up rooms to improve flow and update the finishes. The separate formal living room was a rarely used space so the wall between living and family rooms was opened up and the stairwell was updated to transform how the family use these rooms. The doorway from the entry to the kitchen was also opened up to welcome guests into the heart of the home.
The existing dated and inefficient kitchen was redesigned to include a large island with dining, light filled sink area and decorative hood at the range. A tall pantry cabinet and additional mud room cabinets were installed to provide storage for this busy family. The new kitchen is bright and modern with white Columbia cabinetry complimented by a dark wood island. The Pental quartz countertops feature a light marble design and the soft grey backsplash completes this kitchen transformation.
The tiny powder room received a face lift with a custom shallow vanity that is big on style. The existing living room fireplace, which was too large and out of scale with the space, was updated with new tile and painted wood surround.
The success of this gorgeous remodel was a true team effort with the clients, Model Remodel on the construction and our firm on design.

There were certain things we were really looking for in the remodel. First off, the bathroom was pretty large with a high ceiling. In the winter months, it was always really cold and hard to heat. To solve that we had TaylorPro install heated flooring beneath the travertine tiles. We also needed a custom vanity that would conceal hair appliances, most of our personal toiletries and have enough storage for everything else. The cabinetry was custom designed to exactly what we were looking for. Lastly, we wanted a classic, timeless look using tumbled travertine. After consulting with his designer we were able to select all the tile, accent tile and a beautiful frameless glass shower enclosure.
The finished project was beyond our highest expectations and we won’t hesitate to use Kerry and his crew for any future jobs or recommend him to family and friends."

Satterberg Desonier Dumo Interior Design, Inc.The goal for the owners of this Blue Ridge home was to remodel their traditional Blue Ridge home to open up rooms to improve flow and update the finishes. The separate formal living room was a rarely used space so the wall between living and family rooms was opened up and the stairwell was updated to transform how the family use these rooms. The doorway from the entry to the kitchen was also opened up to welcome guests into the heart of the home.
The existing dated and inefficient kitchen was redesigned to include a large island with dining, light filled sink area and decorative hood at the range. A tall pantry cabinet and additional mud room cabinets were installed to provide storage for this busy family. The new kitchen is bright and modern with white Columbia cabinetry complimented by a dark wood island. The Pental quartz countertops feature a light marble design and the soft grey backsplash completes this kitchen transformation.
The tiny powder room received a face lift with a custom shallow vanity that is big on style. The existing living room fireplace, which was too large and out of scale with the space, was updated with new tile and painted wood surround.
The success of this gorgeous remodel was a true team effort with the clients, Model Remodel on the construction and our firm on design.

But just like the rest of the house, the master bath was already almost 20 years old and getting out dated and in need of remodeling. Kerry was very responsive getting us a timely estimate and had great suggestions for what we were looking for. From the start to finish it turned out to be a wonderful experience! To our delight, they were able to get started ahead of what we were told. Everything went almost as scheduled and we were informed constantly on where we were in the project. Kerry was very responsive to all our concerns or requests and we were never left wondering what the next step would be. His crew was wonderful, so polite and hard working. They were very professional, on time, considerate and knew exactly what they were doing.
