After the renovation, the dogs have their own personal bowls and a customized washing area for when they come in from outside. The standing height dog washing station includes a Sterling shower base and Delta wall mount hand shower for easy washing without back pain. Even better, the lower cabinet opens up exposing retractable stairs for the retrievers’ easy access to bathing. An Elkay under mount sink for fresh water and easy draining was complimented by a Kohler Purist Lavatory faucet. These dogs quite possibly are the only ones with their own under mount sink! An LG Hi-Macs Volcanics Solid Surface material was used on the counter tops featuring built-in food bowls. Originally a kitchen seating area within a former golf clubhouse, this space was masterfully reimagined into a formal dining room capable of seating up to ten guests while honoring a timeless, traditional aesthetic. We preserved the existing ceiling alcove color as the foundation for the room’s design palette, reinforcing this connection with a textured navy sisal wallpaper that adds depth, warmth, and visual interest. To ensure the space was as functional as it is beautiful, we selected a long dining table with a leaf extension, perfectly proportioned for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. We paired this with softly upholstered chairs for comfort and introduced a contemporary chandelier to provide a refined, upscale contrast to the traditional elements. A key design highlight was our approach to technology. We successfully integrated a picture television into a gallery wall featuring the homeowners’ personal travel photography. When not in use, the television blends seamlessly into this curated display, preserving the room's character. A custom-crafted rug grounds the space, completing the design with precision and softness. Embarking on a new journey with a client is always an exciting and inspiring time for Moderne Living. Moderne Living was recently commissioned to carry out a transitional design project for a North Carolina home, which on the face of it could have presented obvious challenges due to the geographical difference. Not believing that distance should be an issue, we rose to the challenge. Through careful consultation, the client revealed their vision, in turn guiding our choices on their behalf. This led us to select the Euforia range by Montbel, whose design ethos encapsulates tradition, innovation and dynamism. We set out by developing a relationship with the client through telephone conversations, an investment in time that was absolutely crucial in contributing to the success of the project. Using the client's descriptions, ideas and floor plan, along with the talents of our designer, we were able to understand, give shape to and define the vision the client had in mind for their home. We chose Euforia dining chairs, armchairs and stools because their collections offer modern elegance perfectly balanced with supreme comfort. The range takes the best of classical design and reimagines it with character, flair and modern touches. Euforia blends traditional design hallmarks including tufting (buttoned upholstery) with familiar silhouettes, solid wood frames and upholstered seats and backs. Color options are varied with neutral tones or rich, bold shades. Modern details such as chrome footrests reminds us of the harmony that can be achieved when you blend the contemporary and classic. Each new client brings with them an ideal for their home, be it on a small or larger scale, and this helps shape our approach to each client and project. Inspiration for a transitional light wood floor great room remodel in Salt Lake City with white walls

There were some druthers with the kitchen and there was a desire to make certain rooms more grown-up again. Unlike some of our clients who get rid of their formal dining rooms, this family wanted to keep theirs. They saw it as good space for entertaining and doing work – why not make it more stylish and purposeful? THE REMODEL Design Objectives Keep the craftsman style of the home but make it more modern Update the dining room to be more formal for entertaining and provide storage for china, stemware, wine, etc. Open up the kitchen to improve flow Incorporate new decorative lighting throughout the home to accent the home’s style Transform the staircase into a statement piece that greets visitors – redesign it with arts & crafts details in the balusters, newel posts and handrails Design Challenges: Open up the dining room window for more light and a better view of the backyard. The previous window felt closed in with heavy shutters. Improve kitchen flow without making the footprint larger Make the entire home feel updated and cohesive while staying true to the house’s style. THE RENEWED SPACES We bumped out the dining room window to make a new bay window. The glass mullion design mimics the craftsman style, setting the tone for the room while letting plenty of light in. It really opened up that end of the dining room. The view of the backyard is much bigger now, too. It’s also a great nook for playing board games, doing puzzles and playing with Legos. We actually got rid of a walk-in pantry that had cut off a corner of the kitchen, and were able to keep all the main walls intact. The old pantry room is where the fridge is now, as well as a tall pantry cabinet, some additional cabinets and a new countertop surface. The flow is much better and it’s roomy now, with a kitchen table that’s great for informal meals, homework and kids seating when adults are entertaining in the dining room. The cabinet, tile and countertop colors are still neutral but offer a more muted palette. To bring in the craftsman style, simple architectural details were added such as the hood and window valance, decorative furniture toes, a shaker door on the perimeter cabinets and a more modern cabinet door style on the island, pantry and refrigerator areas. New decorative lighting was added in the kitchen, dining room, living room, foyer and second-floor hallway to make the entire first floor feel updated. Also, the entire staircase was revamped. The existing hardwood was kept in place but stained medium brown to bring in some warmth. “The Drury process made this project turn out better than we imagined,” one of the homeowners told us during the final photoshoot. “There were so many features we didn’t know about – like charging drawers – and ways of going about the remodel that didn’t come to us naturally. We’re so glad Alicia had so much experience and so many checklists. We got to think through everything and arrive at the best possible design for our family.”

Staging this condo was quite the experience. You walk up a narrow flight of stairs and you arrive on the first floor where there is a dining room, kitchen and a living room. Next floor up is a mezzanine where we created an office which overlooked the living room and there was a powder room on the floor. Up another flight of stairs and you arrive at the hallway which goes off to two bedrooms and a full bathroom as well as the laundry area. Up one more flight of stairs and you are on the rooftop, overlooking Montreal. We staged this entire gem because there were so many floors and we wanted to continue the cozy, inviting look throughout the condo.
