WINNER OF IDS DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2014 Like all the spaces we design, this room is totally about the people who live in it. True, the room started as a blank empty box, and while this couple likes architectural interest, the low ceiling was a challenge. Our solution was to add a wonderful niche – perfect to correct the uneven window wall AND indulge an architectural craving. Au courante grass cloth wallpaper and a modern rug are the perfect foil for the refreshing furnishings and appointments that span from 19th century to mid-century to modern.

The sunken den, off of the foyer, receives abundant light from a bank of windows. This portion of the home was added on in 1968 after the original owners requested more space to accommodate their growing family. Bobbie found the 1950's sofa second-hand for $10, and had it reupholstered. She chose Crypton fabric as a means to save the sofa from the cats' claws, which means that not only will the style remain timeless, but the sofa itself will always look like new. Dining room - contemporary bamboo floor dining room idea

Eliot Keramik Modern Dining Table is a synopsis of original Italian design, offering incredible utility and stylistic dimension. Manufactured in Italy by Cattelan Italia, Eliot Keramik is the latest iteration to the Eliot Dining Collection with familiar edginess and novelty of ceramic surface. Eliot Keramik Dining Table is available in 3 rectangular and 3 barrel shape sizes and features a Calacatta or Alabastro Marmi ceramic table top. Eliot Keramik base is available in white, black or graphite embossed lacquered steel as well as in satin stainless steel.

A different vantage point and here we see that this is an L-Shaped kitchen with a dining table off to the side. The consistency of the brown and grey with the exterior and that flowing through the interior is really a nice, detailed touch. We get a bit of a "closer" look at the backsplash behind the range. Looks like a smaller mosaic tile with a pearl finish. This is done very tastefully within this setting. The pebble pathway on the floor to the bottom right of the photo also intriguing - wondering where it goes?! Still the small attentiveness to detail that Alair Homes has placed within their designs is really great! Notice how the plug covers one the backsplash are white and the one on the island is black. Yes they aren't a perfect match, but could you imagine a black cover on that tile, or a white cover on the island. This would drawn way too much attention, what they've done shows their passion for their designs. Is there any other details that have impressed you throughout this home?

Our goal for this project was to transform this home from family-friendly to an empty nesters sanctuary. We opted for a sophisticated palette throughout the house, featuring blues, greys, taupes, and creams. The punches of colour and classic patterns created a warm environment without sacrificing sophistication. Home located in Thornhill, Vaughan.
